@Rendom: I'm waiting to add you into the list ^.^ If you have any question just ask...

@Elrick & chaosstep: making something different is exactly what I want to do in this GB. I've seen too many DCS sets, even Cherry old style sets everywhere recently. They are nice keys, but since everyone uses them and they are in every picture threads here and there, I like them less ~.~

@berserkfan: thanks ^^

@Matt3o & Latin00032: I will let people decide the route to go after we reach 50 orders of standard kit. I will post up a vote for people in the GB to choose what they want. After that, you still can modify your order in case you're not happy with the result.

The more I think about the all-row3-alphas solution, the more I like it hahah :3 It will be a perfect 23 Commando set in appearance if it goes this way!
The all-row3-alphas SA family is nice on a Filco board, eh?   :p

Show Image

That looks better. The OCD inside me won't be able to look at that keyboard with 3 or 4 keys looking out of place. Granted, the ergonomics would be better with a normal stepped key set but the 3 or 4 oddly angled keys would stare into my soul.

It also sucks to say that we removed the original setup and ergonomics of most of the keys on this set just to make it "look better".

I still might jump on this gb anyway no matter the final vote.

I would make a decision now about the row layout so you do not risk to receive too many order cancellations.

IMHO the alpha-on-the-same-angle is a better choice, but the GB is yours, pick one and stick with it :)

You guys have a good point. I was put off initially because I didn't know how the keys were going to lay out since there was no "official" commitment to the stepping of the keys.

You might need to commit to a layout now or at least put it to a vote very soon while people have this gb on their radar.

Oh... I need some time for re-listing the detalis of the kits, making the new mock-ups. Maybe some keys will be added because of the change, so the price would be adjusted a little...

You did a really great job jil_jil32 with this set. I don't understand why it is not receiving more consensus, this is probably the first SA set done right.

Maybe it's the color combo that is not very SA related... Usually SA is associated to retro colors, this is a bit too playful, but still it deserves more success.

Thanks for the compliment bro...

I know the colorway of this set is quite new, but let's think it just the first SA family set running by me and I want to have something fresh and unique with the modifiers for the first completed SA set...

Next time we will have an upgrade modifiers kit that I'd also like to have to go together with this Brown on Beige base part. Most likely will be Tan/Beige on Brown... That would look more *related * I'm sure

@ everyone: this 23 Commando keyset will officially have the profile like this

The reason I did it because I want to have a completed SA family keyset that does not have any different profile in one row, and still remain the ergonomic of the set as much as possible.

So in the end of this GB, we will have a perfect SA family set with no gap, no wrong profile key in same row and still be a full row profiles keyset!!

first run a simple "cheap" fast gb with classic "safe" colors then you will see a ton of real life pics
after that you can run a fresh style gb like this, maybe with 3D mockups, with many options and sell a lot

This may be a noob question but, what is a Vietnamese Lotus kit?

How many orders do you need before you know you are going to use the UV coat?

maybe with 3D mockups

I agree on this! Once we added a 3D mockup to DSA Retro, orders skyrocketed!

jil_jil32 can you ask someone to render a 3D mockup?

I don't receive you two orders yet ^.^ please fill the form again~~!

This may be a noob question but, what is a Vietnamese Lotus kit?

How many orders do you need before you know you are going to use the UV coat?

The VL kit contains 7 keys, 6 of it have the Lotus icon in various color combinations. You can see the details in the 1st reply ^^

The UV coat for some keys of the kits, I already have the price but they are a bit too high now... We should collect more orders before thinking of adding the coat or not.
Clear coat added to 2 keys in the Standard kit:
50 kits - $4.04 / kit
75 kits - $3.00 / kit
Clear coat added to 3 keys in the Upgrade kit 01:
50 kits - $6.06 / kit
75 kits - $4.50 / kit
Clear coat added to 1 key in the Numpad kit:
25 kits - $3.60 / kit
50 kits - $2.02 / kit

how the hell did you get sp to produce correctly sized mods?!?! i didnt think that was possible.

Er... my luck? Hah :D

I was over optimistic that people've already seen a lot of SPH Round 4 keys ~.~
Here's a photo from a friend of mine - megaxpop - of the SPH Round 4 for anyone that has not seen it. Imagine of a set like the SPH Round 4 with lots of upgrades, especially the correct size modifiers, matching profiles in same row, the colors and the novelty keys ^.^

Very cool set. I wish I had funds free.

Since the keys are all the same profile, any thoughts about adding scoops to allow dvorak/colemak layouts?

I really hope we hit at least 50 of each, they are MUCH more affordable at that price point. I am biting the bullet and getting 2 of each so that we can hopefully pull this off. Everyone BUY BUY BUY!!!  ;D ;D ;D

In for one (standard + upgrade1).

Not excited at all about the colors, but I've always wanted to try SA profile, and maybe it will look good on the right color of board  (bright blue?) ;).

Let's hope we hit the 50 mark!

I'm trying not to add things in the middle of the GB, so maybe in the end if so many people want it, I will ask for a quote for a pack of those keys for people who need it. If anyone does not order because of any reason, do not hesitate to say, I'll see what I could do ^__^

@Everyone: Order list and quantity updated in the 1st post & 2nd reply. We are only need 06 more of Upgrade kit 01 and 01 more of VL kit to reach the next price tier!!! Price break for everyone! Go go go soldiers!

This set is going to kick all kinds of ass.

BTW, there are 2 different green color chips. Which color is being used where? Is the darker green being used for the legends? Thx

In the next days I will ask for quotes of the blank keys, a small kit of doubleshot CAPS LOCK & SCROLL LOCK and NUM LOCK. Then people can add it separately.

The darker green is the ABS plastic color code VV. It's roughly matches the color of legends on the CAPS and SCRLK and NUM keys.
The green in the center of the photo is the green of the modifiers part of the keyset, code VF.

For the Upgrade kit 01 you can already buy at lower tier:

46.90 × 50 ÷ 46 = 50.98 < 64.05 :) (and you get 4 spare sets you can resell or use to cover production errors)

the same is true for other kits. Of course it would be better to have more orders, but consider that before placing your order!

Nice :)

I'll place my order once shipping prices are announced. Then we can figure out the cheapest shipping option within EU and who would be the ideal proxy.

Are there any other guys from EU that would join us?

if shipping starts from Asia it shouldn't be that bad (in the $15-25 range?)

I would like to see how SP can make small windowed Caps Lock/Scroll Lock/Num Lock keys.  Never seen any example of SP's work concerning small clear windows for leds to shine through.

This Group Buy is getting better and better as time goes by.  Please let us know if you've changed anything significantly during the order process hence we need to re-order again to include any EXTRA's that you might provide.

If anyone wants to cancel the order, please PM me instead ^________^

@ApocalypseMaow: It's fine. I hope you can find one, or join us later if things gonna better with you.

@Matt3o: Thank you. Your calculation does make sense. I agree that we should think about it. But as you can see, people can change their minds. Before receiving the money from everyone, I'm not sure how many kits will be ordered.
It's a step just before placing the order, not for now IMHO. We must collect more orders, and reach the next price tiers by new orders. Step by step is the most stable way to go I think.

@LechnerDE: I'm still waiting for the answer of a guy. The best is there will be a guy in the US takes care of distributing for people of this GB.
In the worst-case scenario that I can't find anyone willing to do so, I will have the shipment from SP shipped directly to me, then I will take care of everything then.

I think the shipping fee, from the US or from VN, would be around $15 - $25 for one or two full kits, to you. The shipping fee of VN post is not too bad, just we don't have the flat rate box so it should be many work to do.

I want to have the shipping information listed after this weekend if at all possible.

@Elrick: Sure thing. Not only do I post the update info here, but I also send an email to everyone's email address. So you will be noticed if there's any change with this GB ^_^

Has anyone here gotten the Ducky camou board yet? I'd like to have more pics of it ^o^

I did not read the entire thread but will there be geekhack keys??

And if so can they be purchased separately?

No GH key in the set, SpAmRay. You can read the 1st post & 1st reply to see what's included in the kits ^_^

@everyone: How do you think about the following kits?

#1: contains 3 keys: CAPS LOCK, SCROLL LOCK, NUM LOCK - doubleshot, TBN on VF
#2: contains 5 keys: E, H, N, T, U - deep-dish, doubleshot, TBN on GAW for other layout users

And not a kit, but separately 1x BLANK key in VF and GAW. Should we have BLANK 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x and 6x keys (6x in SS family), 6.2x and 7x also? I need your comment here!

My suggestion:

#1: contains 3 keys: CAPS LOCK, SCROLL LOCK, NUM LOCK - doubleshot, TBN on VF
#2: contains 5 keys: E, H, N, T, U - deep-dish, doubleshot, TBN on GAW for other layout users
#3: contains  BLANK 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x (the set for those who want the Commando colors/profile without the Commando logos)
#4: contains  5 keys BLANK 1x, GAW
#5: contains  5 keys BLANK 1x, VF

That way people can order as many 5-key sets of blanks as they like, without the headache of counting x number of single keys per order.

Thanks for the input, Greystoke...
And of course, do not forget the row profile. Just all ROW3 keys or?
I have a headache already >"<

as a GB organizer myself I wouldn't suggest to offer spare blanks. They are really a pain to sort and they would delay shipping.

the sets as they are now look fantastic I wouldn't change them much (if any).

How about a pre-packed kit of blank keys?

What's included in that "Ergodox kit" bro? And may you make a guess how many ergodox user will join?
People who interested in this set of blank keys please show up and let us know your opinion. This might be your only chance to have the blank keys added into this GB. If we do it, make sure to to it so simple and quick, easy to sort everything so the distributor will not have much problem with it.

The current kits are highest priority, so if there is only a small need of the blank keys, or adding the blank keys will slows everything down, I'm afraid I can't please you all and have to drop the blank kit :(
