Well at least it'll be fun to participate, as always. I'm guessing with the influx of new members competition's gonna be pretty tough, so I'm not going to hold my breath.

Yo fellow geekhackers!
I'm fairly new, and this is the first 4grabs i intend to participate in.
Can someone tell me how it's all gonna look like?
Like, do we camp the thread, and, once the information is posted, we send emails? Or how does this work?
Aaaaaanyway, really hope on getting in on this one, since i did not manage to get into the toxic bot thingie.
It really is amazing art, and i would like a piece of it:)

This will be my 2nd 4grabs, Ive done a EK sale before as well. Both were unsuccessful. :(

There is a countdown. He will list the items and a spot where an email address will be.
When he posts the email address you send an email but not before 00 or it wont count.
Then you wish for the best!

Sorry to hear that :( Maybe this time!!
Yes, i know about the countdown. What i don't know is what the subject and the content of the mail have to be.
Like, i have to copy the mail address, paste in the "To:" section, write something in it (for example a number of the skull) and then send it?
Do i get this wrong?

Ordering instructions (what to put in the subject and email, etc) should be posted sometime before the sale begins.

How do you even do this when there's no email address already specified beforehand and you don't know what you should write in the mail?

usually theres like 10 mins beforehand so the bot would make it so you hit it no early but also no later than the time

if somebody has a bot please give to me

This is really a flawed method of having a sale when people can just send out instant emails as soon as the countdown ends.

I'm 100% positive some folks do this or something like it (looking at YOU people who defy logic and get in on every 4grabs.) Some people cheat, but you can't prove anything really which sucks.

I would venture raffles have even more vulnerability for gaming the system. Something as simple as using a different ISP and shipping to a PO box would let you receive two orders. Not sure there's One Best Way to do sales other than competing with honor, but some folks are naturally greedy cheaters. Not a lot you can do to make a sociopathic clackhead feel guilty.

When cheating, its pretty much the same

Get  more entries by having PO box (for both)
Raffle: Enter multiple times
4Grab: Bot can easily handle multiple emails with the same stuff, just write a script that changes the address each time

But in the end, raffle is the fairest, because it gives a chance to the people who arent computers. There is usually a 1 week period to get a chance to win the raffle, vs 1st 2 seconds for a 4grabs that can easily go from 1 for everyone to everything for 1

Its stuff like this that makes me not even want to participate. If you had the time/patience to experiment with your email provider to get a good feel for their average mail relay latency it should be pretty trivial to write a perl/ruby/vbs/etc script that would send an email at exact second (probably a few seconds early to account for network delay) needed for your email to show up at 4:00:00PM.

It's still way fun though. That 30 second rush: 10 seconds before the timer hits zero, and the 20 second cooldown is worth it alone for me but I'm a bit of an adrenaline junkie :P

If part of you dies, you're putting too much value on things.  They're cool and yeah, it is sad to see the same people getting them in the sales over and over, especially when they just flip them, but it's not the end of the world if you don't get them.  There are a ton of other cool things you could grab or play around with.

If part of you dies, you're putting too much value on things.  They're cool and yeah, it is sad to see the same people getting them in the sales over and over, especially when they just flip them, but it's not the end of the world if you don't get them.  There are a ton of other cool things you could grab or play around with.

It's pretty much the end of the world if you don't get any clacks.

I fell into alcoholism and heroin the first time I didn't get a Clack in a sale.  The second time, I took up cutting.  The third time, I attempted suicide.  Trying to get into Clack sales is a dangerous road.
