84/86 ANSI
not so sure on an 87 ANSI since it's never been mentioned.

I had PM'ed sherryton earlier about the possibility of an 87 key ANSI layout, at that time he mentioned that layouts weren't 100% decided/known yet.  I could deal w/ an 86 key layout, just would prefer 87 if possible.  My skin in the game is that if the only option is 84/86, I'll need to update my MKC spacebar order to cherry profile 7x instead of 6.25x, and likely order a set of the 1.5 RGB mods from originative.

If you go on kbdmania there are a lot of 87 layout kmac2's (have menu key and using 1.25x mods). I don't think sherryton has these on hand as it seems like a recent partnership so I think you can probably get an 87 layout option.

Are you sure?  I can provide anything that is available out there.  I tried asking the KMAC team about the specifications on the KMAC 2 yesterday, but they were too busy.  I am still not 100% sure.  I believe when I ordered samples awhile ago though, they asked me, "Do you want winkey or winkeyless?".  I am pretty sure the KMAC 1.2 can be available in both, but I am still unsure about the KMAC 2.

We can provide the switches (at a cost), diodes, LED, etc.

The assembly would ensure that alaricljs gets you a proper working keyboard.  He will solder the diodes and switches into the PCB.  He will install the PCB into the keyboard, and then he would screw all the holes nicely.  All you need is a cable from USB A to mini USB B.

Also, if interested, I believe the assembly will include spring modding.

I'm pretty sure nothing. KMACs should come with a default firmware, if not, you'd need to load that.

Do you have the KMAC 2's in hand ready to ship?

Can we get an approximate date on when you will be selling/shipping these.  I want to make sure I have enough money left over.  However, if it is too long from now I may be unable to hold off on all the other things happening right now.

Hurry up and take my money before it's gone!

Is no one going to answer this?

Yeah I would also like to know this. Deep down time of purchase and shipping (to me of course) are whats going to make me decide between this and the LZ.

As I said, KMAC 2 were suppose to be ready by this month.  Now, it will be ready when our business PayPal account is done being reviewed.  Shipping will take place in approximately 3 months from the day it is purchased.

I'm pretty sure nothing. KMACs should come with a default firmware, if not, you'd need to load that.

The KMAC is ready to type when everything is assembled.   If you want to remap the keys, then we can give a list of information when the time comes.

How about lubing and stickers? I understand that will be a lot of work involved.

Lubing and Stickering is very tedious work.  I, personally, can handle all the modding (since I will have all the switches, spring, lube, and stickers with me), but I will charge a fee.  I am unsure about the fee yet as I never timed myself, but I will do it again (for my own KMAC).  I will time it, and I will base it off of that.  The work is very tedious, so I recommend you to purchase the items yourself, mod the switches, then send it to alaricljs.

Yup, I heard that too. I meant maybe someone else can work on lubing and stickers for an additional cost. If not that is fine too, I don't want to ask too much =) Ummm. Kuhn Tang, Sherryton already mentioned that they have some issues to resolve first (paypal, possible more approximate details from kmac team etc.) and that the kmac 2 will come right after. Just wait a bit and I am sure sherryton will deliver the good news soon.

I understand. Just a thought, if you were to provide switches/stabilizers/stickers/springs it would be good if you can offer an option to have those delivered first so that those can be worked on before having it sent to alaricljs.

Of course, those items would be coming from me anyways.  The problem is you would have to pay for shipping from me to you, from you to alaricljs, and the shipping of the board back to you.

Yes, everything will arrive at the same time and shipped altogether, so there will be no extra costs for shipping.

And it would still be cheaper than paying a proper amount for the time it takes to do the job, imho.

Just desoldered mine on Thursday. Took them from a brand new WYSE. Even though the board was old and not really usable it just seemed wrong to destroy a brand new keyboard.

I have some of the krytox on order from the_Ed at DT. Kinda anxious to try it. All my other boards use 103 and 205.

What caps are you going with?

I have a nice set of Cherry beige with some textless legends that would work well, and I have a R4 coming from 7bit that would look nice some day.  But for now, I've been aching to use my WYSE PCE keys.  I do believe WYSE will look nice with the Ti, although the KMAC1 with the lighter shade might look better.

It will have 5 more than the KMAC 2, but I am not sure exactly how many KMAC 2's yet.

So how can I place my order ? I really would like to buy two :)

At this time, 1 per person.  If there is any leftovers of another type of keyboard, then you will have to wait if you wanted it.  For example:  You ordered a KMAC 2, but you want both KMAC 2 and 1.2.  You will have to wait a week if you are highly interested in getting both.  That way, everyone has a chance at a custom aluminum keyboard.

okay great, and how can I make my order for the one pice and the waiting list for nr. 2 ?

Sherry,

when will we be able to order these firm and pay you ?

It will have 5 more than the KMAC 2, but I am not sure exactly how many KMAC 2's yet.

So how can I place my order ? I really would like to buy two :)

This is great! Looking forward to it and hopefully my new KMAC soon ....

Fabian
