[Massdrop] MKC Stainless Steel Keycap Puller $5.99
« on: Fri, 21 February 2014, 16:29:23 »
Massdrop is having a groupbuy on the MKC Stainless Steel Keycap Puller.

Right now 8 are committed, but 30 is needed for the keycap puller to be at $5.99 (and 20 for $6.99). Over 30 are committed to the groupbuy, so price is set at $5.99

Shipping is $2.29 to the U.S.  At 30 committed the total is about $8.29 for U.S. purchasers.  This is about the same price, if not lower, than what feng sold them for in his group buy last year.  Quantity is locked at 1.

Please note that the groupbuy has a limited stock of 100 units in America.  Those who purchase the keycap puller after the first 100 units will have to wait 2-3 weeks for further production over at MKC and another 10 business days to ship to Massdrop's fulfillment center.  In other words, you best buy now.

Yes! I was just a bit late in the group buy and I've wanted to get one of these ever since. This is awesome!

SAME

I already have two regular wire keycap pullers.

Someone convince me not to buy one of these pls.
[alternatively, convince me to. I hate being on the fence.]

imo cherry one is way better than the mkc one. Plus theres durability issues with these pullers where the wire falls out of the handle. Hasn't happened to me yet (after about a month) but I doubt these will last long

How does the SP one or the KBC one compare? I honestly like my KBC one a lot more than the SP because the wires are slightly thinner and more flexible but it still feels sturdy (so far at least...), but I can't compare to any other brands.

I have the cherry one too, and it's my favourite. It works well with Model M caps, which others I have don't work well with.

However, I ordered this one as well. It's shinny.

Two comments on this:

1. The cylindrical handle design is not as good as the flat, flared Leopold plastic design. The cylinder can rotate between your fingers/palm and make it harder to get a good grip.

2. This happened after de-keying a few keyboards:

****....md gave me two of these and they're both going strong. I like the cherry one, but these are growing on me. There's a certain way to use it, and once you find the right way, its pretty good

Mine did the same thing when I got it from Feng's original GB. I had a tendency to play with it while on the phone, so I never actually used it on a keyboard.

I was removing GMK caps from clear stems, so they were a little tight, but I was wiggling them and not applying that much force. A quality tool should have easily withstood what I was doing.

I've pulled multiple cap sets off alps keyboards with this puller without incident. I was lucky enough to have one of these pulled gifted to me last year. Been using it regularly without incident
