Elton, do you know what the spring options are? Any chance we can get 60g gold springs?

You can get more colours for custom LED option.  Just provide a picture for us.

Available are 50g and 62g.  For others, he'll have to check for availability

Hey Elton, can I use this layout(space row: 1.25x,1.25x,1.25x,6.25x,1.5x,1.5x,1x,1x)? This layout can let me keep left win key and arrow keys. I didn't see this in the form, so I just want to confirm .

Just curious, did duck help design the kmacs?

I also might be offering assembly for a couple boards (conus), let me know if anyone is interested.
I'll probably be getting some clears and stocking up on more leds/resistors.

Also, Margo from CTRL ALT can assemble if your outside conus.

I don't think you can get that layout as each side should equal..

Probably helped with the PCB?

But you can still do the 1.25x1.25x1.25 6.25 1.25x1.25x1.25x1.25 option and keep the 1800/arrow key layout tho, right? It should be the same length as both 7x options.

Think of it as a chance to try ergo clears..
Unless you already have Browns, then no comments.

Nope. I was merely thinking along the lines of the non-clicky tactile switch category.
Don't they feel similar except for the spring weight? That's my experience with Black/Red and Blue/Green.

Woaaaahh. You're missing out if you've never tried ergo clears. They are not alike at all. Clear bump is so much more satisfying than that brown scratchyness.

Hmm now I'm curious about ergo clear. ::)  Is the bump more noticeable than blue? I didn't want brown because people say it's scratchy red and I don't like it.

The ergo clear is really different from the blues. Blues are clicky but ergo clears are tactiles. If you're looking for a tactile keyboard you should definitely give the ergo clears a try, they're usually the preferred MX tactile switch.

Oh I understand that the clears are non-clicky & tactile. I'm not exactly sure what they feel like though; like if you never tried Topre how would you know what you are missing kind-of-thing y'know? My impression is they the bump is similar or greater than blues, and a larger activation / bottom out force.
Maybe I really should get some and try for myself.

I see what you're trying to say. I say that the point of resistance for the click on the blues is very pronounced, whereas it's a bit more gradual for tactile switches. A bump, like I said previously. The resistance on MX switches right before the point of actuation (so the click/tactile part of the switch) is snappier than Topre. Topre feels more smooth and gradual, but super tactile at the same time. You're are missing out if you haven't tried a good tactile switch yet :p

Well that's it then! My next board will be ergo clear.
Hopefully duck will add the clear switch option.

You shouldn't count on it. I think that the best option for you is to send it to someone in the US to assemble the keyboard, and then send them clears, springs, and lube as well. You can buy clears and springs off of mechanicalkeyboards.com

So much customization possibilities ! I spent 2 hours thinking of what switches , leds and keymapping and I still cant confirm the layout and final form..

I am wondering of those who have submitted the form - what pro / cons are there in your design choice and the reason behind the choice of layout.

Elton is there a way to view the polls / what everybody is choosing for their final lightsaver ?

If i order those duck blockers - would that mean there is no mx switch there ? or is it placed on top of it and just restricting the switch from being pressed ?

There's only 2 that submitted so far.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Akw9rY8oi1o6dGpBUFV5eXBMNVVIRjRGcE8zUElld3c&usp=sharing

If there is a blocker, there can't be a switch there since the blocker uses the switch hole to stay in place.

I just want to put 1800 Keys on this puppy, do I need to fill out the customization assembly to make sure I get the correct plate? I will build this myself and provide my own switches/stabilizers.

If they are universal plates, they could be specific to layouts though. I'm not familiar enough with the plate.

Pretty sure there's only 1 universal plate otherwise they would have asked me to add an option for the plates in the order form.

Also this layout 1.25x,1.25x,1.25x,6.25x,1.5x,1.5x,1x,1x won't work..or so I've been told.

The Duck Mini plate had wide cutouts for the switches with multiple possible positions like Caps lock and the bottom row. I'll snap a picture of it when I get home since it's currently disassembled

Hey elton, sry for being so annoying. For the layout I have been asking for. 1.25x,1.25x,1.25x,6.25x,1.5x,1.5x,1x,1x. Why is this infeasible? Is it the software limitation or the pcb doesn't support it?
The mid row in the following graph shows the layout I want.

Is it because when I use 1.25x,1.25x,1.25x,6.25x in the left, the current will only go through the circuit where 1.25x,1.25x,1.25x,1.25x lies in the right. Then even I put the switches in the 1.5x,1.5x,1x,1x, there would be not current passing these paths, thus these four keys can't be detected.

You are right Ron, you can get that layout.  Just specify that in the forms.

I've asked in the previous group buys, and he said no. I asked again, let's see..

I'll add that layout to the form

EDIT: You can order 1 stabilizer set for one unit ordered

Just PM me if you want to add a set.

Also for that layout, Ron, I don't think you can use the plate..

Hey Elton,

Not that it really matters, but out of curiosity, will the orders without assembly services be shipped before those that requested assembly services, or will they all be shipped in the same go?

Thanks!

Is this just if we order assembly service or can we get a stabilizer set if we are assembling it ourselves?

Also, what is the cost?

Is there no possibility that the order limit can be expanded again? I'd really like one of these keyboards, and since the initial orders filled in a day, I'm sure I'm not the only one that still wants one.
