I decided to revisit Shadowrun Returns yesterday and noticed that the Dragonfall DLC was on sale on Steam. I'd been a bit unsure about paying full price for it, but the sale convinced me that I should at least give it a go. I have to say, I kindof regret not getting it earlier: it's definitely worth the money and then some. Everything I liked about the original campaign, but with a much less linear feel (although, let's face it, it's not, say, Fallout and it probably never will be) and a bit more wiggle room mission-wise. The NPCs are particularly great, and while they're pretty much genre stereotypes (the whole plot is pretty by-the-numbers, to be honest), everything's written well and is very memorable. Evocative in the way that well-written genre fiction always is. Is it really as good as the PC Gamer review? Probably not, but it's a damn good campaign nonetheless.
Going to delve into some of the user-generated content after I'm done with Dragonfall. And then maybe go back and play the SNES Shadowrun, which I've never played. Maybe I'll go find some people to play some PnP Shadowrun with, one of these days...
