Blue Alps Tour!
« on: Fri, 11 October 2013, 18:16:21 »
This is the official Blue Alps Tour!

Only members who have 250+ posts and I deem trustworthy are allowed to participate (why...because it's my board and ain't no one gonna run off with it!  :p).  This board uses an AT cable (so I will be including an AT to PS/2 adapter and a PS/2 to USB converter on this tour).

Please review the tour terms (below) and post in this thread to be added to the tour (let me know which state you live in!).

Terms of the tour
-You get one week with the board...then you must mail it (with tracking) to the next individual on the list.
-You must post a review of the board. (Mashby included!!!!)  :p
-Tour is CONUS only.
-I reserve the right to shift around tour participants in order minimize the keyboard's time in-transit.
-Tour will commence October 31

This board is modified Omnikey 101 with complicated blue alps soldered in.  The board will also have simplified white alps soldered into the function row.

Tour Participants:
-mashby (Tennessee)
-Binge (Pennsylvania)
-digi (California)
-esoomenona (Texas)
-CPTBadAss (Ohio)
-prdlm2009 (Indiana)
-Computer-Lab in Basement (Connecticut)
-dante (Illinois)
-tjcaustin (Texas)
-riotonthebay (New York)
-HoffmanMyster (Wisconsin)
-1pq (Massachusetts)
-hashbaz (somewhere over the rainbow) KEYBOARD IS IN THE HANDS OF hashbaz
-exitfire401 (Michigan)
-hwood34 (Virginia)
-Lurch (New Jersey)

Little do you know that after the last tour, AkimbrO made AT F's hard to find. MWAHAHAHA. Akimbo is actually trying to sink the Buckling Spring and Alps market, one tour at a time!

Also, congrats on 2K posts calavera :D

Gotta create enough interest to move the market....then sell sell sell!

Not interested in the tour (and not eligible, I don't think), but blue alps are awesome, good choice :thumb:

And, on top of that, the build quality of the omnikeys is pretty incredible.

Should be fun for everyone involved!

This is great! I'm seriously considering it.  I wish you had more varieties of Alps in there to try out!  Like "salmon" Alps, Matias Clicky, etc.

Oh yeah, I remember reading reviews :)  I just want to try lots of different Alps varieties, in part because there are SO MANY of them.  I want to get a good idea of how they compare to each other as well to Cherry MX.  Like if I got an Alps-compatible PCB, I would have absolutely no idea what to put into it (not an issue... because it's not going to happen any time soon :D)  Matias Quiet switches seem to be the safest choice from what I've read.

No, no. The Blue Alps. I'm wondering if they're difficult to find. I don't want to enter a tour for switches that I might find amazing, then won't be able to ever find...

We pay shipping ourselves or can we freeload 2 the max?

My real question is now much shipping the board costs. I'd be down provided we can skip it under $15.

Any method with tracking (you pay shipping).  The board can fit in a USPS flate rate priority game board box....which is roughly $16 to ship & includes tracking.

Can I be notified on when the person before me in the queue is being shipped to? I may have to adjust my position in the queue so that I'm not holding things up, being that I travel so much.

Will do!

Sweet! I look forward to trying these out. I just bought a bag of Matias Clickys for my Filco Zero, pending the results of this.
