Only 18 views - compare that with a stupid Bieber video. You must admit that appreciating Telemann makes more demands of the listener than appreciating Justin Bieber - thus, while deploring popular taste, one has to also recognize that one can't be too surprised.
Electronica!
I LOVE METAL!
Their best album

I agree, it's kinda trippy in a way with a dood being a chick in his previous life and stuff. LULZ.
listening to the song from which my "location" comes from...

p.s. I have billy's autograph =)
Wonder who their new drummer will be...
I rarely ever listen music, but this guy is a freaking amazing musician playing on his accordion. That is indeed amazing, and shows that Hungary's got talent too. If people are curious as to what kind of accordion he is playing... I was curious too, and so on my web page at http://www.quadibloc.com/other/mus03.htm is the answer I found.

Bach to Bach.
Heard this at Easter Service. Our organist pulled out all the stops on this one.
That's Bach BWV 147.Well, the tenth movement from it, at least. Better known as "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring".
That obviously took a lot of work, but I was disappointed to find out it's just a commercial for a phone.Ah, yes. Sharp's Touch Wood SH-08C. But I'm hardly surprised that such a thing is a commercial.
I usually only listen to instrumental music (don't like the human voice to spoil my music),Would it help if the voice wasn't saying words?
Chong, Nice Vid!
She's on Amazon here.
Anybody with a song titled "Venn Diagram" is pretty geeky.
Would it help if the voice wasn't saying words?
I think of music as emotion and logic, not communication or expression.Music is many things.
but when one admits emotion,
it is unclear how one can exclude expression - or communication, because when an emotion is identifiable, communication has taken place.
That "Albinoni" piece you posted is actually not by Albinoni. It's a fake - written by Remo Giazotto in 1958 and passed off as an Albinoni piece.Oh, so this was just a plot to make us feel bad about Dresden then...

Losing sleep over the author of Albioni in G is like losing sleep about Rap sampling.

I often wonder how many amazing things - music, art, scientific discoveries, inventions - were lost throughout history because of stupid wars. The stuff we know about today is just what survived. I'm sure there were many incredibly great things that we know nothing about today - don't even suspect existed - because they were destroyed long ago.A lot of things were, no doubt, lost because of wars. Perhaps more, though, was lost because it never existed - because the people who would have produced these things, from Archimedes to Saki to... Jura Soyfer, to take just one random example, were killed in war.

I usually listen to soundtracks a lot. For example this track which I just recovered yesterday:

That's fascinating. It almost sounds like an Amiga demo mod. (similar style - repeating blocks of music)
But... what's with the weird hat?

Just heard this on the radio and I love it.Cool stuff, and definitely ahead of its time. I hadn't even heard of them, or producer Joe Meek for that matter. So thanks for bringing it up. I spent the last few hours reading about various figures in 20th century popular music. Not my kind of industry, I can tell you that much.

CCR is an epic band. They're epic because they are, umm, not epic at all? ;)
All this time I had thought that Istanbul (Not Constantinople) was a They Might Be Giants song. :)Oh, well, there are advantages to not being old enough to remember
Rymdreglage (http://www.youtube.com/user/rymdreglage): A Swedish electronica duo known now mostly for animations in their videos and their music inspired by 8-bit video game music.
I've never understood why European 8-bit musicians always used those intensely annoying high-pitched wobbly sounds. You don't hear it from American or Canadian 8-bit musicians (yes, there were Canadian 8-bit musicians - see swinth below). It's not an 8-bit computer limitation, so why do it?
In any case, I wonder why you didn't go straight to the good stuff:
Anyway I'm listening to Parov Stelar at the moment, his music is somewhere between Electronic, NuJazz and Swing, he calls this genre "Electroswing"
I've never understood why European 8-bit musicians always used those intensely annoying high-pitched wobbly sounds.
I've never understood why SID music is called 8-bit, for starters. The synthesizer chip is analogue, but the computer controlling it is a Commodore 64, based on the 8-bit 6502 microprocessor.
The synthesizer chip is analogue, but the computer controlling it is a Commodore 64, based on the 8-bit 6502 microprocessor.SID is digital - bunch of counters and simple logic, most probably the noise generator was LFSR. And C64 uses 6510, but since it's 6502 with some I/O bundled in, consider this very mild nitpicking.

The point is, "8-bit music" as used colossaly on the intertoobs couldn't be much more misleading.

But have you done CosbyDubStep yet?My oh my, why haven't I heard of it before? Never was a fan of Cosby though, might be my age.

Love Crystal Castles. That Danielle Dax track was quite good definitely has that baile funk vibe.
Of course, I just don't keep up with the times, and so this is more my speed...
^ Wow that song was awesome lol.agreed! wow that is awesome lol.
(btw, my previous music post was a clip featured on "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!")
strum4h, ever listened to DJ Spooky's Optometry? It's a way more liberal approach to jazzy sounds, but you might enjoy it.
Gillian Welch's new CD.
Finally.

So good.
find this one creepy.I don't know about "creepy", and maybe a small girl can hit high notes more naturally... but O Mio Babbino Caro is the song that wrecked Maria Callas' voice. So I am... disturbed... but "creepy" is perhaps not the right word.
What's in the back of my car? A cdr lolOoh! LISP jokes!
I'm listening to real Dubstep (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TySvFPrMTOo) atm
But instead of being silly, here's some real music, at the risk of presenting something I've shown here before:Sorry quadibloc, but my kitsch-o-meter just leapt off the table...
and something else different:That's quite interesting. Someone's apparently got a weak spot for blue lights, too.
This is so fantastic :OMumford & Sons influence much? Still nice to see them oldfashioned acoustic instruments getting some love alongside modern ones.

Go check out all their videos :)
Wait a microsecond... the description for that one says "This particuliar mix was released on Sire Records in 1988 and remixed by Emilio Pasquez aka Pascal Gabriel." Could that be the same Pascal Gabriel who also worked on the debuts of Ladyhawke and Marina and the Diamonds? That would explain a lot. On the latter, I couldn't shake the feeling that whoever came up with the arrangements loved his Alice (Italian singer) records... as does yours truly.
@Malphas - nice stuff!
Do you listen to Goblin?
That last one with the roller rink was dangerously close to disco.
Not a valid youtube URL
To much flash injections on this thread ... if you would just add links it would not load 3 !! seconds xD
...
Also try at youtube Nujabes, Death Note Ost, Venetian Snares
If you like the song, try this version ^^Yes, I love those sketches/movie. I'd love someone to ruin my wedding by blasting out that song on " boombox" just before the vows.

Heard this lady playing live on the radio last week and she is quite something! She is.
My landlord/friend/coworker just hit me up for this month's utilities, which were exorbitant due to us living in the swamp known as NoVA. So in honor, I put this on...Northern Virginia?

A little Liszt. Classical is nice every so often.
Yes I have. He's huge in Germany isn't he?
Oldschool 70's pop:
Bozz Scaggs Lowdown:
And of course you can't listen to Bozz and not listen to Lido Shuffle:
Tron Legacy: R3C0NF1GUR3D
The entire album is excellent. It's the soundtrack from Tron: Legacy by Daft Punk, remixed by some of the biggest names in house music.
EDIT: Music video of the first track.
Finally some decent music, not that hipster crap.
The Monk was into hipster hats before it went mainstream.

Just finished rocking out to some Rival Sons. Apparently the 70's are alive and well -- or at least some grandchildren of the 70's peeps are.

I have extremely eclectic tastes so I will keep this to just one genre for this post. I don't like very much "rap" at all but I love pure "hip hop" music without the vocals, especially when it is allowed to submerge into other cultures around the world.
DJ Krush is a monument of hip hop ecstasy just doing regular music but when he mixes elements of his own culture into it, the sound is just amazing!
When you put this in, it's almost mandatory to include Nujabes:

Japanese jazz and ska which is surpriseingly great for studying.
noo not the brostep!!!!!!!!!!
Who do you like?Cosmic Home/All That Jazz is basically my study playlist. Others are Soild and Pimp sessions, Tokyo Ska Paradise Ochestra, Shibusashirazu Orchestra, and of course Ore Ska Band. I though I had more but my library is a mess at the moment and will be until I can find some time to sort it out.
...Tokyo Ska Paradise Ochestra...
Good Lord, now that is a proper ska band. Look at all the horns...Show Image(http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/24914145/Tokyo+Ska+Paradise+Orchestra+member.jpg)
Their a very fun group as well.
Another that I was just listening to is Katteni-Shiyagare. If you wondering how I listen to music I sorta just queue up all my recent stuff and hit play what comes, comes and usually im not dissatisfied. The is also Tokyo Brass Style they mainly do covers of anime songs.
Thanks for these -- I didn't even know there was such a thing as J-ska. I haven't really followed ska since high school, though I still listen to my old favorites. As usual the Japanese excel at what they adopt. I've been digging into TSPO and Ore Ska Band on YouTube and loving them. Doesn't look like I can buy them on Amazon though..?It nearly impossibly to get much if any good Japanese music without importing.

That Kid Cudi song was good, until Kanye came on and gave another worthless 'contribution' that detracts from the overall song. I wish everyone would stop letting Kanye anywhere near a f*cking microphone.
That last one is really nice vurt, thanks for sharing.
Currently on tour in Australia, you lucky bastards. Might be able to see her live in April or May, though, which would be delightful.
All sorts of music. Been on an edIT kick recently
I'd like to dedicate this song to sth and any other Geekhack punkers who live in East Bay.
