Stand Sure Systems support of the Geekhack environment!
« on: Wed, 21 November 2012, 16:15:42 »
I'd like to welcome new admin and GeekHack supporter samwisekoi

Samwisekoi (Ron) is a long-time keyboard geek, apparently reads Elvish, and for a living runs an Infrastructure Engineering and Operations company, Stand Sure Systems.  Ron is contributing time and expertise to the geekhack.org Admin team, and his company has graciously donated hard drives, switches and servers to our new hardware platform.  They have also provided the geekhack.org Admin team with a full suite of Operation Management tools from their 24/7 support service, 724support.com.

Geekhack is looking forward to a great relationship with Standsure and Ron | samwisekoi, and we certainly appreciate his generosity.  Please join the geekhack.org Admin team in welcoming Ron | samwisekoi and thanking him and 724support.com for their contributions!

Woo!!!  Thanks Ron :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I've necro-ed threads from 2011 I think, maybe 2010.

Necroing on purpose for fun should be a tempban-able offense.

Necroing on purpose for fun should be a tempban-able offense.

The times that I've necro-ed were:

a) an amazing mod that deserved more exposure
b) I wanted to start a nice flamewar.

A) There is a search function, people can find them the same way you did with it. And it falls under on purpose for sure if not for fun.
B) Wanting to start a "nice" flamewar == On purpose for fun
