Mini Wireless Keyboard
« on: Mon, 23 April 2012, 22:26:09 »
So I have my computer connected to my 52' TV, and I was looking for a mini wireless keyboard I could use to program it from afar, preferably a rechargeable one. Does anybody have any suggestions??

I was looking at these on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UE52ME?t=slickdeals&ie=UTF8&tag=slickdeals&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003UE52ME

http://www.amazon.com/Loftek-Multimedia-Keyboard-Adjustable-Touchpad/dp/B004I4SSCQ/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1335237791&sr=1-10

http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Enhanced-Multimedia-Keyboard-57Y6678/dp/B005L2NTTQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1335237039&sr=1-2

The lenovo only because it seems like a well built product from a reputable brand, and there is a good deal on slickdeals =). But are there any sleepers in this category???

This also looks pretty cool, but not sure about its availability or practicality.

It's not as mini as the lenovo or logitech but i have the IOgear setup with trackball http://www.iogear.com/product/GKM561R/ and it's really good for the price. I think I saw it on sale for $29 a week or two ago. I've had mine for a while and it's pretty good with batteries. I didn't fully test the range of it though as the room that I had my media center in was not particularly large.

I've used the logitech and it's pretty boss but hugely expensive in comparison. USB rechargeable and a lot smaller, though. And backlit.

My friend had the dinovo and he personally hated it and thought it was a POS. But this was like 2-3 years ago, I don't know how much they have improved since then. Backlit would be nice to have for when I am watching movies in my room, but I would think that backlit would drain batteries pretty badly. I was heavily considering that lenovo 5902 but I was reading that the batteries do not tend to last long on those.

The backlights for this type of thing are LED and aren't necessarily on all the time so they are a relatively small power drain. It really depends on what you want it for. If you actually want to use your computer as a computer then you'd probably want a larger KB and better pointer option than what the diNovo may offer but if it's for movies and music then a diNovo is more than sufficient (in my opinion) as it offers a relatively complete keyboard (to use with your thumbs) and a pointing option that is switchable with a volume control (iirc which is nice) and is backlit and USB rechargeable so it does not require AA batteries or anything like that. It's pretty expensive and you can't really type on it. If you're just looking for just media center functionality you're probably better off starting out with a media center remote control and seeing where your needs lie from there.

I am falling more towards that DiNovo, I want something the size of a remote, I was eyeing that second logitech keyboard, but it is too big for my preference. That japanese looking do it all phone looks pretty interesting though, but I am also pretty sure it is not available here in the US.
