I had thought of that once I saw how broad this had gotten, but we would need cities for the larger countries.  There are plugins though that allow a user to type in their city and it auto pins it to the map.

Seems odd to have continents like North America and Europe broken down by country only and then have Australia further dissected.

This^

In addition, if Australia gets broken down by state then the US probably should too.
I'd make Australia a single category if I were you or this will start to get out of control quickly.

Well , Seeing as how The entire continent is covered by the country , I felt they should have some divisions.  I thought about the same for the US but based on expected population totals we would have a few groups and alot of ones.

I'll drop Aus back to solo.

Yeah since taking it out, the initial issue that caused me to put in is getting to me.   It just bugs me not having any kind of breakdown under the heading.   Atleast NA has atleast 3 countries to choose from Although I would argue that physically Greenland should be NA.

I may go back and ad the Ausie breakdowns again.  It's bothering me.

Hey man I agree they are physiologically  connected to NA , but everything about them screams Europe. I don't know that they fall under any of the flexible nonstandardized continent categories, so they would probably go under NON-Continental for the Island. Recently owned by a European country but laying in the NA region and disassociating from both.

Greenland with Europe?  Shares tectonic structures with North America.  Plus the Danes don't really do anything to help Greenland any more.

Not other than sending 590million$ a year which is quite a lot considering theres only 55thousand living in Greenland

About.com and the Wiki say they are technically NA although a territory of Denmark which is Europe.   I'm not the most educated man and much less so in geography but I don't ever remember being taught that Greenland was in NA. Of course..... I never heard much about Greenland period.

NYC, NY (USA, FYI)

I feel like the standard setup of seven continents would make sense for this. Just check out the "continent" entry on wikipedia and look at the pretty colors on that picture. NA would get Greenland as well as Trinidad and Tobago. Australia and New Zealand would get lumped under "Oceania." I'm not like a professional uh... geographist, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's usually done.

I'm considering a few ideas on some slight changes to the formatting , I kind of like the idea of using a set parameter or listing. The problem is that 7 Continents is not an official regulated boundary.  It's just land masses.  So perhaps I'll shift it to regions which is closer to what the geologists use, or use these About.com lists which are the first hits when searching : Continent vs region .

http://geography.about.com/library/maps/blrindex.htm

This one looks more like someone had some spare time and decided to make a list.
http://geography.about.com/od/lists/a/officiallist.htm

Or something like this , Although I would keep the continents at the broad level and not break them down into such small sub groups.

Modified slightly to include regional information and slightly better break down of groups based on region. This is still subject to change based on numbers we get.  Future layouts may have a few groups split into separate categories

Greenland is technically a "Super Island" and happens to be the word's largest.

Australia is DEFINITELY a continent because it has a distinct land mass, flora, fauna, and culture.

Observe:
[vieo=youtube;_f_p0CgPeyA]http:/ww.youtube.com/watch?v=_f_p0CgPeyA[/video]

Canada is considered part of North America although sometimes they play for the other team.
