Calling all Browncoat artists and creative individuals...
« on: Thu, 20 February 2014, 12:43:49 »
The question regarding licensing keycaps gave me an idea. For all you Firefly fans out there, what would be the designs that you would like to see become keycaps? Ivan gave me the idea about his Blue Sun logo (love it), but what would be some others? It could be anything from Jayne's hat to River's Silhouette, or maybe even Mal's sidearm...

...seriously geekening out here...

Summer Glau. On every key cap.

That would be cool. Maybe even have a different frame of a roundhouse kick silhouette of River Tam on each of the Number or Function Row...S H I N Y...

As a rabid fan of the series, I'd be very interested in this.

My suggestion is to do a spacebar with a profile of Serenity and the words "You can't take the sky from me..." trailing behind it.

I concur. I think I will tackle trying to design one...

By the way, I found these and edited them together during my lunch break. What do you think?

Much thanks to Mitchell Johnston for creating these awesome posters. Now, if I can just talk to him about turning these designs into keycaps...

Another idea would be this piece of artwork from Mitchell Johnston:

Or if we could find that silly squid-looking cartoon guy...

I did, and he said yes. And he said to link to his site:

Okay, after working on getting the colors right. I am thinking just a tenkeyless set but I threw in the Number Pad for the heck of it...

The word 'Serenity' is just a stand in for where I would like to do the ship sihouette...

I may have to do the full graphic Dye-Sub spacebar separately. I think this would be awesome.

I'd love a Chinese character set comprised of the "future" and present phrases they used on the show. Some of those insults were so hilarious and off the top ... Man I miss that show.

I like the top image, it'd make a nice mate for the Browncoats ribbon on my car.

Well, it appears that I will be looking into seeing what the cost is for just the spacebars to be made. If you had to choose colors, what would they be. Think Dye-Sub if they can be side printed Dye-Subs. I may just make a whole set just for me, as I am sure it will be expensive. Color recommendations would be most welcome.

I'd suggest creating a new thread under url=http://geekhack.org/index.php?board=132.0]Interest Checks[/url] with the image that you created. This should solicit more ideas and get a gauge if there is interest enough for a full set.

Between the new SP group buy system and the bang up job that CTRLALT has been doing with running group buys I think this set finding the light of day could be a reality.

Just need to garner interest and finalize the design is all.
