I'm down for an 87-key set. Definitely prefer the darker side of blue, the darker the better IMO. Also, do you know if they can make a spacebar that will fit the Leopold? If not, I may have to swap out my Leopold for a Filco...

Lol. Good thing I just bought a Filco. I like the bottom or the second to top colors, they look the darkest and most neutral blue. I'll mull it over tonight, but that many svgs are going to take some time and effort if you know what I mean. Bribery helps, I certainly can't justify spending $100 on keycaps to my gf. ;)

Here are my scanned SP samples. I think the BFD is quite lavender more than blue. Both in the scan and even more IRL. It is quite dark but I don't think black printing will have any problem showing.

The only thing I didn't like in the artist's rendering was the alignment/size of the windows and the menu logos. Are those going to be top-left aligned in the final product? I'd prefer them to be centered and a little smaller.

I'm a little confused about the "blank keycaps" bit. Do me now get a few blanks in without 87-keycaps (thereby getting 90)? What "row" do they work with? I'm still fine either way, but I'm curious.

So dyesub just for the heck? Sorry, I'm not too deep into key caps and the dis/advantages of the different plastics and/or printing methods. From what I know dyesub's supposedly not as long lasting as double shooting?
Pretty much. Dyesubs are considered to last very long. It is possible for them to wear (I think sixty has a pic of a worn one somewhere) but that's probably after a very long time of very heavy use. And even so, I don't think it's possible for the legend to completely wear off so much as discolor slightly. Sixty might be the better person to ask though.For the dyesub keys, they have ink permeate a short way through the keycap, so you'll have to wear through that much plastic before it becomes unreadable. For a hard plastic, like PBT, that's gonna take a while.

The thing is, the top left aligned text on the modifier keys without any arrows gives it a nice modern look. By adding the arrows you are somewhere between 'oldskool' and modern. I don't really like that. But as I said, I'm in for a set either way.

The spacebar is probably the right size for leopold, but since it'll fit the filco/costar (wasd, CMstorm? etc.) boards, I think there may be a problem with the alignment. Like, the location of the switch under the spacebar (and stabilizers) will be off.
You can probably remedy this by hacking it, but that's up to you.
I saw a space bar somewhere here on GeekHack that had 6 'inputs' on the bottom in order to fit both the Filco and the Leopold. Maybe that's possible for this set? Or is there some reason not to do this?

My apologies for not mentioning this earlier, but our tooling for spacebars is made for ABS material. PBT material has a tendency to shrink quite a bit more than ABS, which means the mounts might move in a bit. Please keep this in mind as the PBT spacebars might not have the exact fit you are looking for.
Also, they always use ABS for the spacebar and not PBT.
I think the leo space bar will be included, just waiting on confirmation from SP. No deadline yet, but I plan to start taking orders when the space bar is finalized and I have at least 30 orders.

Those are made in China. These keys are made in the US.I'd say that the location and order quantity make up the difference in price.

Folks - they didn't arrive today despite the "expected delivery date". Damn USPS! :(
Here are my first impressions:
Overall, the set is very close to what I expected. Not quite as thick as Topre PBT, but they feel solid and nice to type on. They are about as thick as the SP ABS doubleshots, but they feel more sturdy.
What I like:
1. Overall, they look and feel very solid. The set looks great overall.
2. The Universal spacebar fits my Leopold perfectly. I haven't tried it on my Filco yet.
What I don't like:
1. The Backspace lettering is not straight, as you can see in the photo. I plan to contact Melissa to ask for replacements.
2. The spacebar is a tad bit off color from the rest of the set, but not too bad. I believe that SP matched it as best they could, so this we can't do anything about.
\KL- any chance we use the same template but in different color schemes?
Have you checked to see if they're all like that? Maybe you just opened the unlucky set of the group buy =P

I have 2 backspace keys that are crooked from my 6 sets. How will replacements be handled? I've already got buyers waiting, so just want to keep them in the loop.
Melissa's just waiting to hear back from me on how many Backspaces need to be corrected - so far that makes 3 including mine. I know that 4 of them are fine (that were sent out) - so that makes 23 left that *could* be defective. That's why people need to let me know ASAP!
Once I get the corrected Backspaces, I'll ship them out to the buyers who ordered each set. So, I would wait for shipping to your buyers to get the corrected Backspace (unless they want otherwise).

1. The backspace is a little bit off. I am just fine to live with it, because it's hardly noticeable, but if we're replacing them, might as well add mine in.
2. The "V" key is the wrong profile (same as ASDF...) This is kind of a big deal for me. I can take a picture of this if necessary, it's blatant.

Also dorkvader, be sure that the keys are firmly pressed so that they are fully-seated. That is most likely the issue.

My right shift doesn't seem to fit exactly, it is very stiff to press down and it squeaks. I don't use it anyway, so not too big of a deal.

I had to dismount the estabilizers before replacing the spacebar, holy **** those fit too tight on the stem. We can see the colour differences with the spacebar on the pic.
KL: You didn't declare the actual value of the keycaps on the package, did you? Hope it's not been hold up at the customs..
He actually did. In my package it was writen but it couldn't be read at all since it was already faded. I can read something like $90 if I'm not wrong.
BTW those PBT keycaps from Signature plastics feel a lot better than their ABS keys. Just for the record the light coming from the leds on the poker won't go trough the PBT keycaps but it will go trough the ABS spacebar.

I think it's great that they use a different mold. The 'sprue mark' is on the back, where it should be. BTW those PBT keycaps from Signature plastics feel a lot better than their ABS keys. Just for the record the light coming from the leds on the poker won't go trough the PBT keycaps but it will go trough the ABS spacebar.
Just got my keys - I'm happy with the material and feel of them, however the color isn't what I expected. Consider it's literally impossible show an accurate color through images it's reasonable for this to happen. I've managed to have 5? (maybe 4) different shades of blue on the left side of my keyboard hahahah. Color clashing is a good thing right?Do you mean that your colours are different in real life? I know mine change a lot based on ambient lighting (just like a peridot!) but all appear to be the same colour to me. Are you sure you're not a female and/or a tetrachomid?
p.s. I also have a crooked Backspace key
Checked my set today. Backspace is crooked, not terribly, but noticeably so. Also, for the life of me I can't get the Costar stabilizer inserts all the way into the stems on the Enter key. Is this just a general issue with the SP low profile keys?

@gimpster - sorry, there was actually a delay with your package. After I sent it out it ended up coming back to me saying "Undeliverable - no postage". I found out that the guy at the post office the day I sent it (Jim) was apparently new and tried to send your package without applying the postage. So, it did get sent out again last Saturday, at a much higher priority since Jim had ended up screwing me on the shipping. You should get them this week.
So, for all the US orders I paid much more for shipping than I should have thanks to this noob.

HAhaha I didn't even notice that issue with the apostrophe. It look more like a tiny 66 then a tiny 99 as it should. I'm really not too worried about that though
Have you heard of the "Uncanny Valley"? If not, Wikipedia that ****. :) Basically, the blue on the spacebar doesn't match, and it's really unfortunate that SP couldn't make that happen better, especially when they were the ones that recommended the color combo for the ABS spacebar (really, they just need to make PBT spacebars). The real problem is that the color is really damn close, and to me that makes it that much more obvious and annoying. I'd rather have a very different color that still goes with the overall color scheme instead of one that tried really hard (but failed) to match the rest of the keys. :)
***UPDATE***Thanks! I hope they arrive before I have to leave for christmas. If not, I'm sure I'll enjoy it on my return.
I got the replacement backspaces today and shipped them out to everyone who needed one!

See my GLWIC (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?24707-Why-Is-The-Ripster-So-Darn-Pissed-At-Signature-Plastic-Key-Group-Buys&p=472841&viewfull=1#post472841) post on the quotation mark thing including Pics and an explanation of modern computer typography. It really IS odd. Even different than Group Key Buy One's.It's just a "smart" quotation mark (which is a little uncommon, bun not unheard-of) that's an opening quotation mark instead of the more-common closing one that's used. Knowing this, I'm now very happy with it.

There is nothing wrong with it per se. But I think it would look better if the characters were centered at the same location. Compare to Filco standard caps, where the "I" is further in from the edge of the key. It's just one more example that makes me question SP's judgment on design.

FWIW, I think keyboards as a hobby is far cheaper than a lot of other hobbies, say sports cars, wines, remote controlled expensive moving things, mistresses, etc. So $90 for a set of keycaps is not too bad. That is what I tell my wife: "you better be glad that I have keyboards and not a mistress." ;-)

Oh man, I've loved those Korean customized keyboard for a loooooong time but never get the chance to touch them. Those keyboards on OTD are just extraordinary.The ergodox is aiming for a similar level of quality.
