Soldering has always been a fun little hobby for me, so I thought I'd lend my services to the lovely members here at Geekhack:

Not taking anymore orders for a week or two.

I can do any of the following for you, prices may vary:

Soldering and Desoldering - I can desolder your board, add a plate and solder it back up. Most modifications will require to desolder anyway, to change switches, so I might as well throw on a plate for you!

Lubing - Can lube your the sliders on your stem to provide a much better, smoother feeling. Also the spring gets a coat of oil to reduce spring noise.

Stabilizing Stickers - Place a sticker between the top housing and bottom housing, gets rid of a tiny space and "stabilizes" the key.

Switch Switching - Can take out the old switches in your board and put any kind you would like in.

Easiest if you provide all the necessary parts, such as steel plate/springs/switches, then I can do the modifications and ship it right on back! If you're looking at a new keyboard but don't like the switches, I'll put some new ones on it that would make it your perfect keyboard.

PM me with what you have in mind, and I shall give you some prices on the things you'll need! I can probably do about one project a week, and will update accordingly if there is interest!

Lubing - Don't like to lube switches? I'd gladly do it for you, as doing mindless things for long periods of time is my favorite (weirdly enough) I actually think this is my strong point, and will take very large switch orders if someone needs me to. Pricing will vary on switch count and lube you'd like.

I am also very interested in trades! Brobots especially!!

18986-0
This is the lube I will be using, if you'd like a different kind let me know.

Will be using a mixture of Krytox 103 and Krytox 205 for the sliders/tip.

Will be using Krtox 103 for the springs, this reduces the noise from recoil. (Only thing done for clicky switches)

Please PM me with any questions regarding prices!

I'd also ask if you could, to put a note inside the package with what exactly you need done and your shipping address.

The first part is so I don't mess up and forget and give you the wrong thing back :/ the second part is so that if I'm going to the post office and can't get ahold of you I can still ship.

Thanks everyone!

Kudos to you, I barely have the patience to mod my own boards. Whatever you're charging I'm betting it's reasonable, cuz it's a LOT of work.

Thanks :) I do love soldering to its pretty easy for me! Lubing is the long part :p

On another note, all PMs replied to, will update waiting list in the next couple hours. If I am able to get the first persons materials this Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll be able to take the next order next Wednesday if everything goes as planned!

Didn't hear from #1 for a couple days I bumped Kempher up to #1 and moved Anonymous to #2, I apologize but I really need to get one going soon.

There is an opening for #4, and at the rate I've been working I can do a project a weekend. I'm also working on getting ROYGBIV colors in for the switch stickers, so keep that in mind!

Thanks everyone, appreciate the business a lot.

PM me for pricing if you're interested!

I really like this superlube, putting it on the bottom of blues gets rid of that springy noise. Putting it on reds is amazing.. But it is the only one I've tried.

I recommend it, but be careful how much you apply!

It's a sticker thats placed between the top and bottom switch housing to prevent unwanted noise basically. Supposedly there's a minor gap between the top and bottom switch housing that forms over time (or sometimes even on brand new ones) so the sticker acts as a sealant. Sometimes when a switch is opened it never closes 100% back up so stickers are used to fill in the gap. Some say they can feel the difference and some say it's not worth the time invested to do them (it's tedious work.)

So, Gupgup, does your list of custom services include Model M conversions?

I've got a Model M - terminal board that I've bolt modded, needs to have a Teensy controller connected and programmed.  Looks like a piece of cake to implement Soarer's mod, but I haven't had the time to even shop for a soldering iron.

How much would you charge?  Could open up a whole new line of business for your services.   ;D

Hmmm.. I haven't dabbled in this sort of thing yet. As far as adding the teensy on that seems very simple, but me programming it is a different story :/ I could definitely learn to do it though! I just want you to know that I haven't ever done anything like this before :D so it would take a little longer than the "crazy quick turn around" mentioned above :p

If you are still interested, please PM me and we'll see what we can do :)

Thanks everyone!
