Keyboard for iPad - what will be best for traveling?
« on: Wed, 23 April 2014, 07:22:35 »
Hi,

I'm looking for a nice keyboard for my iPad - something really small and compact, that I carry with me in my bag without having the feeling to carry a big keyboard.

Are there any recommendations for such a "travel keyboard"? I'm afraid every mechanical keyboard will be to heavy and to big...

I tought about a folding keyboard (I never tried one), but most reviews say, that's not nice to type on.

I tried several keyboards for my iPad (a logitech full-size, a damn cheep Anker that looks like the Apple Keyboard and feels surprisingly good, the Apple Keyboard itself (I miss the function keys for iPad... ) but all of them are to big to carry it around every day.

Any ideas on this problem?

You could try one of the clamcases with a built in keyboard

Filco Minila Air? Or the Matias Laptop Pro with Bluetooth?

Benq DeskSaver is surprisingly nice, if you can use USB OTG. I occasionally carry it with my Nokia N800.

Foldable keyboards have too much flex, unfortunately. I have owned several, including Freedom, Nokia and Palm ones.

I used an FC660M on an iPad once, it was quite good. TKL is a little too awkward for tablet use for me.

Well, I do own the Filco Minila Air and use it for my Macbook Air. Indeed it is a great keyboard, but much to thick to fit in a bag.

I also tried the original Apple Keyboard as I wrote: The Function keys for iPad are missing!

A very cheap solution would be the Anker bluetooth keyboard - I got this one at work on my desk ... it is nearly the same like the Apple keyboard, but with function keys and not as "high end quality".

However - all these keyboards are too big - I am looking for something small, e.g. foldable with is nearly full-size or min. 90%.

Maybe the Goldtouch Go! 2

It's foldable and has a Bluetooth option. It uses scissor switches.

I use the mini Apple Bluetooth keyboard without a keypad. Works fine and is perfectly designed for use with the iPad Mini.

I like the Filco majestouch. It works great and feels great. Also the bluetooth adapter that works with keyboards is great and very compact so you could use the ML switch keyboard 4100.  ;D
