Yours truly spent much of Easter remixing the last album of
these guys so I could have my very own "audiophile quality" version (which was successful, for the most part at least, but be warned it's
not entirely trivial). They'd put up a high bitrate MP3 multitrack version for remix purposes last year, which I found out while going through the CD stacks and adding data for over 100 discs (phew) to the
DR database (the Foobar2000 DR meter plugin works reasonably well, except logs in "album mode" seem incompatible).
Other than that, it seems I've been infected by the folk virus.
One of the previously neglected discs that I stumbled upon in the vault contained this nice cover of a Cohen classic:
From this, it's not far to the next song:
Another one of those who were taken far too young...
Here's a classic that I hadn't heard in ages, even totally forgotten about, only for it to come back to mind and me finding that I could still sing it and even remember a significant portion of the lyrics (and I'm not exactly a music library on legs). Guess it made a bit of an impression on me back at 13.
I like songs that shine with nothing more than a voice and a guitar. Guess that's why I'm a fan of Suzanne Vega, among others. Speaking of whom, here's one of my absolute favorites of hers, admittedly with slightly fancier instrumentation.
