Hopefully by the time you get PBT's I'll have money to afford them. >_<

I've been itching to pull the trigger on a WASD order... PBT would forgo the trigger and light a cannon fuse.

Oh, this just came to mind, when the white case comes out (soon I hope?), will there be a white wrist rest to match it?

Will you offer the r1 1.75 key in PBT, too? Will you ever offer r1 1.5 mods?

No, we will not be offering any keys that we are not currently using in our keyboards. Also, the R2 "Dot" key will be discontinued as we will be using the "Line" type for all three home keys.

Ok thanks. I needed to know because I always want to stay compatible to your keys, lol.

I'm eager to see the thickness of the keys and if you can do PBT space bars. :-)

Any chance of getting the front faces of keys etched?

It's possible, but the extra setup time would be expensive. I think we'd have to charge about $25 extra to make it worthwhile. If everyone thinks the price is fair, then I'll eventually add this option into the Custom Keyboard Designer.

Edit: I forgot to specify it's $25 EXTRA.

If that is what it costs then of course it is fair!

I can't believe you have been throwing away countless sales over a $25.00 addon fee?  Make it $35.00 there is that enough?

You run the world's best custom keyboard dezine company.  So by law, you must support front printing. :)

I go to your website all the time to buy my dream keyboard but then always get stuck because I can't actually custom design my keyboard the way I want.  I got so frustrated that I ended up letting Rosewill rip me off (and you) by buying a RETARDED Rosewill keyboard when I really should have just bought a simple WASD keyboard without any customization and I would have been much better off.

Of course to really make use of front face printing you need to get your flash font problems fixed.  Because ppl want Greek letters and things on their keyboards.  I assume we can't do that yet.

The thing is you have an expensive Laser that can blast any vector image into a keycap.  You have a computer that can perfectly understand any of my 100,000 fonts or 20 Million cliparts.  Except you can't make use of 99.9% of it due to letting Flash get in your way.  Right?

If I was healthy I would just write u a little keyboard designer proggy for real computers that would do ANYTHING YOU WANT with no weirdo limitations.  But alas I am horribly crippled with pain from typing on a stupid evil rubberdome over membrane keyboard.  So I can't code u anything but believe me I want to.  You are losing a ton of sales due to a few simple errors and its very sad. :(

There is another problem I can fix for you, later, cause its nice and simple.

But right now I really need to know is it possible for me to buy a keyboard + keycaps from u where all keycaps are the same profile?

I need all same profile so that my crashpads will work correctly.  When every row of keys is shaped different it changes the feel of the keys on that row with crashpads and I think a little bit with O-rings.  I really need all my keys to feel the same.  I am dying of pain and I need a simple keyboard, not a convoluted sculpted one.

In all my years of typing when I was healthy I never sat round thinking "Man, I wish my keys were sculpted to different angles on different rows".  I can type seemingly just as well on either format.  But logically it makes sense to be NOT sculpted since my fingers actuate keys by moving DOWN toward the center of the Earth.

With flat keys all finger-to-keycap-impacts are the same.  With sculpted you must press straight down onto an angled key with a different angle on each row... this makes no sense.  You don't press keys at an angle, you press them down.

I think you are wasting a ton of money and time on complicated keys rows when you only need *1* row of keys.

You have sadly already lost one sale from me to evil Rosewill.  I am trying so hard to buy 1-3 keyboards from you (depending on if I can get EVERYTHING I want).

If I can pick just 1 row of keys I would pick the tallest row and flattest.  With flattest being most important.  I really need them all to have the same profile.  I am literally dying here.

Another thing I am interested in is having my springs lubed.  Have you ever done that?  yes I know its labor intensive.  Yes I know its expensive.  Have I mentioned I am DYING?  I don't care about money.  I just want a good keyboard.

If u don't provide such a service that is totally ok but it just means I hafta order my keyboard(s) from you and have them shipped to some geekhacker to lube them for me.  My finger nerves are horrifically sensitive and I can feel the grindiness of each keypress.  Mentally I can ignore the grindiness.  But my nerves are not controlled by my brain and they feel the grindiness and get annoyed by it.  So I decided to blow a bunch of money on this lubing thing since ppl say it really smooths things out for us ppl who have had our lives destroyed by high-impact membrane keyboards.

I also picked up a few DeoxIT products to lube the switches, D5, F5, F100. F100 is the ideal thing to use
...
I used F100 on my Rosewill reds which went from slightly scratchy to buttery smooth.
u put the grease on the spring?
I want buttery smooth reds!

We have several things we are working on at the moment. So we will tackle each issue when we can. We get a fair amount of request for side printed keys and it'll definitely be one of the next things we look it. We are a small company which gives us a lot of flexibility when trying to improve our business. However, that also limits us to how many things we can do at once. Afterall, we're the same people who process and ships everyone's order.

Unfortunately I will not be able to help with the flat keys. It might be worth trying to get a set from Signature Plastics since they do have flat style key cap molds.

We probably will not be providing any lubrication services. At the moment, it would probably take us about 1 hour to simply remove all the switches and reinstall them. I haven't tried the lubrication mods myself, but opening each switch, applying lube, and reassembling would probably take an additional two hours. If we can change our backplate, it would cut about an hour off the whole process. If you are interested, we could look into sourcing the lube and providing you the service. You'll need to email or PM me for details.

Lubing is a tedious and time consuming process.  I stopped offering it because I value my free time more than people would pay.

I offered $200.00 to get my keyboard lubed.  But that was before I found out that I can theoretically buy a PCB mounted keyboard and lube it myself without all that desoldering/soldering nonsense.  Because paying $600.00 to lube 3 keyboards is a bit tough.

So I am in "shopping mode" now trying to find an easy to lube keyboard that works on PS/2 and is not missing any vitally important keys.  All the ones I have looked at so far have failed one or more of my criteria.

Probably when WASD gets their new plate that allows easy lubing I will be first in line to get one.  Depending on my medical condition on that day I will either do it myself or offer a pile of $$ to have it done for me.

Its on my list of things to consider.  But if I am going to pay thousands of dollars to SP then I will get Spherical deep well keys of all same row.

In my previous msgs where I said "flat", I really meant "all keys same shape same row".  I actually prefer spherical over literally flat keys.  Cylindrical would be ok too but I am going to buy a whole bunch of keys and try gluing things to the top to cushion the blow of impacting the bottom.  I think if I glue a large O-ring on top of a cylindrical keycap it would break off after some months.  But I am not a glue expert so I don't really know. This is one of the reasons I want front printed keys.

WASD with new plate will be best (of course), but you might consider the Cherry G80-3000, as it has a normal layout and should be PCB mounted. I think you can get them from provantage and elsewhere. It's a good deal for POM/PBT keycaps.

I wonder how much $$$ Cherry spent to create that new one-of-a-kind incompatible-to-everything offcenter Capslock key?

Not the old offcenter capslock key they used to use, but a new one, different from any other one on Earth.

How much does it cost for them to make a new mold for that?

I dunno, probably only about $5000 or so, perhaps much less if they were able to modify any existing molds. It's pretty insignificant when you consider that it's spread over a huge amount of keyboards made.
---
What do you mean when you refer to cheap cases, Zehkul? Do you mean Cherry's cases are cheap or WASDkeyborad's is? I quite like my WASDkeyboard case.

Also, totalchaos, I believe the rosewill's will also work over PS2 using the provided passive adapter.

@Dorkvader

I gave up on finding a Cherry G80-3000 with red switches.

So it looks like I am waiting for the new WASD v2  with new plate (does that it make it v3?)

I ordered a set of keys from WASD, even though I couldn't get what I really wanted...  I just did it for the heck of it as an experiment.  So I can learn about WASD quality and stuff.

When WASD allows front printing I plan to order a few sets of front-printed US International layout and/or some custom layouts.

Nothing at all, since they were going to make new molds anyway. (new profile)

We would definitely want to offer more switch choices when they become available to us. We will have some MX Clears in the new months. Greens are anticipated to be available towards the end of this year.
