Point taken. ;P

How huge is the difference anyway with white and black keys? Because of that spacebar...

Hey, there's a DEADLINE now!  I'll add to the sticky in my subforum.

No LONGER GLWIC.

Have you figured out how payments and sorting/distribution will work?  Care to share?

Germans are good at sorting keycaps.
Look at Ascaii and his 119 sets of Cherry DS. Thats more than 10000 keycaps.

Is there a 1.25 unit shift included in blank standard sets or do we have to order it separately? (just blankterm and blanktenkeyless are in the wiki)

212 keys for black PBTs so far. I think there's potential... (At least for black and white PBTs which already got most orders)
I know about the PBT spacebar problems though.

/e: Would ANYONE prefer ABS blanks over PBT?

BLANKSTD will have 8 1.25 units keus (ie left Shift included), so you only need to add a JRET.

Just curious.  I still haven't gotten my $134.50 back.  And this one is going to be BIG MONEY!

My momma says "Burn me once....."

Collectin the money is quite a problem. I still have to find someone trustworthy who can collect money via PayPal.

I can collect the money for EU members, but the rest must take a different road.

Distribution will be no problem.

Shipping of the whole bunch of keycaps to Germany is not as costly as I thought (compared to domestic shipping) and I can ship 350 to 400 key caps for around $5 worldwide.

Right!

As far as I understand, that was a test-run for the Round4 distribution.

It will not happen all the time.

Maybe we split this accros some useres. It would be helpful if they are US based and able to provide a very simple text list with:

user name, order number, payment, date of payment.

I need some help to decide which spherical keys should be from row 3 and whoich should be from their native row.

All alnum and punctuation keys should be from their specific row (1-4). Some modifiers do not exist in the rows where they would be needed.

Also, the space bars are all from row 3, so bottom modifiers would be better from row 3 too. As a side-effect, they would be more thumb-friendly.

I recommend to do all fuction keys in row 3, because they are usually not touch typed anyway and it would allow more flexibility.

2 units keys are not available in row 1 anyway, so row 3 is the best choice for them.

What about cursor keys? I'd prefer them from row 4, but on the other hand, they are kind of function keys.

Because we will save some function keys, I could add both variants.

Another question would be what to do with the numpad?

Why not international bank transfer. The bank transfer from germany to USA is not that expensive. The other way round should work also.

Personally, I would make all the 'blue keys' row 3 (including the function keys, cursor block, and tab), and the others (including the number pad) their native row. But it won't change my order if they're not.

If the function keys are row 3, at least the other keys from the function row (ESC, etc.) should also be row 3.

I would also appreciate the option of a 2.25 matte RETURN. (I plan to use 1.25 and 1.75 shifts to leave no other gaps.)

We collect money from all over the world!

It does not make sense to collect all the money in Germany (or somewhere else outside the USA).

Sure, I can pay SP directly with the EU money, but this is only OK because there will be exchange fees and all that charged only once.

I think all the modifiers, spacebar, shift, enter |\, backspace, etc should be row3. The numpad should be flat also, I really like the numpad on my olivetti, which in done that way. It sort of helps when typing in numbers.

More importantly, if the QWER... row is the same as the ASDF... row, then we'd need a lot less keys for Dvorak, namely: ['"][,<][.>][C][/?][+=][N][-_][;:][Q][J][K][W] and the nubbed F and H as well as the {[}] keys on the number row.

What's the normal ordering, 112344? How about 123344 instead?

First, just to make sure that I understand how you are numbering the rows. Are you doing 4-4-3-2-1-1 from bottom to top? (i.e. the opposite way from how WASD keyboards does it: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/individual-blank-keycaps.html)

Which modifiers are not available in the rows where they would be needed? Without knowing which ones are missing it's hard to say exactly what I think would be best.

What do you mean by function keys? Just F1-F12 or everything like Shift, \|, backspace and such? In any case, I think that they should all stay in their native profile where possible and just have one or two that are not right. I don't know just how many would be wrong though, you'll have to tell me which ones are not available.

For the bottom row modifiers row 3 would be fine to match the spacebar. At least they will still be inclined the same way and who knows, maybe that part about being more from friendly will be nice. I wouldn't mind them as row 4 either though and just have the spacebar wrong.

For people who want to remap their caps lock key to either control or backspace (me! For Colemak! Even if you don't use Colemak you really should try using backspace instead of caps lock, it's fantastic and I got some of my Qwerty friends to try it using a simple registry edit in windows) I really think that the caps lock key should be the native row. It would be weird for me to have Caps Lock and "A" next to each other at different heights because I use the pinky for both of them and use both quite often.

Why is it that you want all these keys to be row 3 though? Why not keep to the standard row profiles where possible?

Function keys are the keys above the number row (which is above QWERTY-row) and also those 2 columns to the left like on terminal keyboards and good old Model F.

LOL!

Row 3 is the row where Caps Lock is, so this is no issue.

Because the BACK SPACE key will not be from row 1 to start with.

The bottom row is more pleasant to be from row 3.

1.25 units exist only in matte in rows other than 3, but we go for the semi-matte version.

Function keys: more flexibility and you usually don't touch-type them anyway!

Try this:
ROUND3/SPACE/ORANGE 1
ROUND3/SPACE 1
ROUND3/KBDRUNNER 1
^^^The last one will not be in red, but white on very dark grey.

According to wiki, ROUND3/SPACE is a 118mm wide, 4 keymounts and I need a 3 keymounts

What about the others (PIRATEFUN, PIRATE125, AWESOMEFUN and BACKSPACEFUN) ?
They are present in wiki but can't be ordered :(

There's no more 1.25 SHIFT and J shape Return in FR kit ?

They haven't frozen mine, and I'm done collecting payments.  Their issue with RCollinTaylor was that he sent out invoices for goods he didn't have on-hand.

That basically happens with every group buy.  We always collect money first before the group buy organizer ordering the goods with the money collected.  Or is it better to just have people send you money, instead of you sending invoices out?

Yes.  For my group buy people just sent the money.  My understanding of what happened is that the newness of RCT's account caused it to come up for review when it was flooded with activity.  The result of the review was that Paypal froze his account until everything he sent invoices for was shipped, which of course created a catch 22.  It boggles the mind that this issue couldn't have been worked out.

aggiejy told me that Paypal was concerned about his RGB buy as well, which didn't use invoices IIRC.  They never took any action against his account though.

Ah okay, didn't realize that caps lock was row 3 already. Thanks for the picture, makes it much easier to discuss this. Why do SP and WASD keyboards label the rows in different ways anyways? Is there one that is more "official"?

If possible I think that the Shift keys should be in row 4. While row 3 is good for the bottom row because it is more thumb friendly, row 4 is good for Shift as it is more pinky friendly for when you curl down to it, and it is used very often while typing.

That would leave Backspace, \| (for ANSI) and Tab as the only odd ones out and you already said that Backspace is not possible in it's native row.

When you talk about the function keys being in row 3 giving more flexibility, what do you mean by that? I assume you mean something about trying to order more keys in the same shape to get a better price? If so I understand, and it's true that we don't use the function keys for touch typing. I was just thinking about how they would look because if they are row 3 the surface of the key would be inclined the wrong way (up instead of down) but this is just a cosmetic thing. I also like the idea of Tab and \| being their native rows just for cosmetic purposes, but these are not really used in touch typing that much either so I don't mind too much either. It's just the Shifts that I think would be good to keep in their native rows if possible.

I hadn't even considered the backspace/capslock thing, the reason I wanted all the modifiers to be row3 was because then they'd look the same, and the keys would be different. I don't think the profiles are really that useful for other keys. I also rather like the symmetry of the "all row3" modifier/enter/etc keys juxtaposed with the "symmetry" of the differing key profiles of the A-Z keys.

So I guess what I'm recommending here is to only have the different heights on the A-Z area keys. I'm abivalent to the number row, and the function row, esc sholud be row3. I also think the ten-key should be "flat", but I think I'm getting a TKL kit, so it's not an issue for me.
