Anyway, I can't understand the difference between RETRO and ROUND3...

As I understand it, ROUND3 has larger, centered, all caps lettering, while RETRO has the familiar squished-in-the-corner ISO9995 style. But I get things backwards half the time.

No, and I'm very interested where he gets that short return key on his mockup.

riffautae, I think I will order the same :)
:>

Looking at http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=32163 it seems enter is 1.25 units.
I think ROUND3TERM has the short enter and shift keys with text in a larger kit. http://deskthority.net/wiki/File:ROUND3TERM.png
Also ARROWRET is 1.25 but that has a symbol instead of text.

I also notice that round3 doesnt have ANTICAPSLOCK according to the wiki and I would really like to have that

7bit:
Would you please include the following for ROUND3 in BLACK [dark grey]?
Code: [Select]
1.25 Enter [R3]
1.25 Shift [R4]
ANTICAPSLOCK

Thanks alot :>

I'm looking for it in SPH, but I also found it in modifier125!

Thanks for the info. Are you interested in adding some glider keycaps?

Oh nice, there it is! So only 1.25 Shift is missing, if he put it in MODIFIER125 that would be awesome. I switched my interest over to MODIFIER 100 and 125 until we hear back from 7bit.

I saw GLIDER on the wiki but wasn't sure what it was. Now that I have a picture to go with it I remember seeing it around the internet. Pretty cool, though I wanted to avoid any symbols on the keyboard.

Also I just saw this orange escape from the actual round 3: http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=20012&d=1309707367 that looks like ROUND3/GAMER/ORANGE or would this only make the text color orange?

A few questions:

Is the NOIR/GAMER/RED kit black on red?

Is the NOIR font the same as the BLOOD front?

Any chance the BLOOD kit will be offered in the ROUND 3 font?

Thanks

Has anyone ever thought of just "bank transfer" or writing a check and mailing it. Its a hassle for both buyer and seller and is slow as hell. But if you don't like paypal, then tough luck.

I hope I can start collection money after this week-end.
But I still need someone who is located in the US to collect the money (Bank, PayPal, whatever).
I can collect most of the money from EU-members (I need some funds to cover shipping costs anyway), but not from non-EU members, because of the 2x exchange fees.

If PayPal is the most convenient method, but someone has no PayPal account, then there should be somone who can serve as a proxy.

Sorry for jumping in with my very first post - but is this still open? I really want to get in on it.

[EDIT]Wow, this is complicated. I'm in way over my head; if I have a Filco Majestouch 2 (the full 'board, not the tenkeyless) with Cherry MX blues, and want all my keycaps black with white text, in the ROUND3 style, is that possible? Any help much appreciated, please reply or PM if you have any idea?[/EDIT]

[RE-EDIT]OK, looks like I can either have ROUND3-style text in white on dark grey, or NOIR-style white on black, so that's a 'no' for ROUND3 white on black.[/RE-EDIT]

I'm an Australian so Paypal is still the most convenient ability in paying for this order whether it be in US, Euro or whatever currency.

Also bear in mind that some orders for these keys are huge, meaning you need to provide complete costings when it comes to safely packaging the keys without any damage occurring during transit.  Hence a sturdy cardboard box with individual plastic baggies for different key-sets ordered and filling it up with polystyrene foam bits to pack up empty space.

It will be expensive but definitely worth it.  These key-sets are not cheap, hence you need to offer a superior way of delivering these items to the customers door with no damage.  I for one will be very happy to pay extra in shipping and handling to make sure my key-set babies arrive undamaged to me.

Also forgot to mention, please understand that it is now almost mid-January, if you want to decide when to accept payments at least have a deadline in mid-February.  Giving a full month to receive all payments would be long enough, but it really depends upon you and your own schedule.

I just realized that ordering a full set is priced the same as the TKL.  Is there any reason not to get the full set, and have some extra keycaps to play with?

Also, those orange keycapss in http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=20012&d=1309707367 are really nice.  I too would like to know the answer to the code, and whether that is a valid code for this order.

Finally: To modify an order do we just write to 7bit's bot, and what's the syntax for a modification... or what?

EDIT:  ah ha!  I think this partly answers my question
Quote
If you want to remove one item, just set quantity to 0:
ITEM/TO/BE/REMOVED 0

But will the bot automatically associate email address with order number?

Sorry for all the last minute questions.

Thanks!

PS: is "TOOL" a valid order?  I think that's the code I saw, which we need in order to pull keycaps, right?

Oh, good point.  Does SPACE order the correct size space bar for the Filco TKL?  I noticed there were several different sizes for spacebars.

The orange keycaps won't be made in this round (too expensive). Instead there will be orange lettering on dark grey caps (code : ROUND3/GAMER/ORANGE).
To modify your order : ITEM/TO/BE/CHANGED X <--- put a quantity instead of X, you can increase or decrease as you like
Your email in only needed for the first order, afterwards the bot will recognize it automatically. You can specify it again anytime if you like however.
TOOL is the code to get a keycap puller.

@captain : SPACE is for 6.25 units Filco/Cherry/Leopold so you should be fine sticking to it I guess.

Thanks zulios!  I think you got your color codes mixed up though.  From dekthority.net
Quote
If you are looking for DARK/*/ORANGE: It had been renamed to ORANJE/*
I see that orange print on light keys is available ( http://deskthority.net/wiki/File:RETRO_STANDARD_ORANGE.png )

*maybe* the secret is in the first term?  DARK = dark keycap with orange print (automatic, no ORANJE needed?)?  RETRO/*/ORANGE = light keycap with orange print (as opposed to RETRO without the later ORANGE, which would give you light keys with blue printing?)?

However, I see that your code, ROUND3/GAMER/ORANGE, *does* appear to point to orange print on dark keys, so I'm again confused.  :-/

I may be too stupid to create the order I want.  Maybe after another cup of coffee, and a few hours devoted study on a dual-32" setup, I'll finally have a keycap epiphany!  ;-P

ASIDE:  For all the keycap fun that won't be allowed in this group buy, how can we order exactly what we want directly from the manufacturers/distributors/retailers?  I haven't found a concise wiki for "here's where to buy all the keycaps you want, without having to wait for a group-buy".   I did find a few references to various plastics manufacturers, but placing orders was not obvious for an end user...   Sorry if I'm too stupid to live - I do most of my geekhacking in the wee hours when most brain cells are inebriated and/or asleep.  ;-)

Sorry if I got you confused captain. To sum up :

RETRO/*/ORANGE : orange on light grey, lovely in my opinion but very likely that it will not be produced due to a lack of orders (unless there has been a major change in the situation since a few days)
ROUND3/GAMER/ORANGE : orange on dark grey, ALL CAPS, centered text
ORANJE/* : orange on dark grey, Camel Case, top left text

Orange background caps with white text like the ones you can see from the previous group buy will not be available.

You can find custom caps at wasdkeyboards.com but please keep in mind the caps from signature plastics (this group buy) do not have the same profile than theirs, so you should not mix them.

Ok first thing: don't apologize for being a noob.  That's one of the most annoying thing noobs do. ;)

The only "retailer" I am aware of is WASD Keyboards.  Fentek and Das also sell a small number of novelty keys on their websites.  Most of the group buys get their keys made at Signature Plastics.  SP sells red Esc keys directly, and they run Pimp My Keyboard (however, only the PANIC and @#$@! keys from PMK are MX-compatible).  Everything else we get from SP is a special order, thus group buys are necessary to get enough volume to make them affordable.

As for what "affordable" means, I was quoted $700 a few months ago to have a single 104-key set made (not counting new legend fees).  Five sets would have been $236 apiece.  I would imagine that getting a single key made would be something like the $65 that the prototype Esc key from my group buy cost.  For specific questions, you can email Melissa at SP at sales@solutionsinplastic.com.  She has always been very helpful and quick to respond.

Thanks for all the answers.  So, the reason these, even in group-buy, are so much more expensive than 99hk.biz, or wasdkeyboards, etc. is because these are higher quality, and double-shot instead of laser etched or printed, right?  I don't see why people are asking for BLANK sets in the group buy though, when you can get 87-key blank set from wasdkeyboards for $40.  Am I missing something crucial?

FWIW, I'm really liking my Filco TKL, although I think the keys feel just a bit "slick", and wonder if PBT is what I like.  Y'all helped me figure out what my erstwhile perfect keyboard was: a Focus FK!  I think these Cherry MX Blues are close enough though, and if I can just get the colors and Mac symbols right I can finally stop crying over the death of the Focus.  :-)

Right, in that double-shot = higher quality.

I'm trying to get sets for my UK Filco TKLs, which are 88-key 'boards. Does anyone know why the TKL UK options describe UK 'boards as being 87 key? Do the UK kits (e.g. NOIR/TKLUK) include J-shaped return and the 1.25-unit Shift?

Also, does anyone know why there's no ROUND3 'black' kit for TKLUK?

Please let me know if I'm missing something obvious.

I can almost guarantee that you don't know what PBT is like since it isn't used on Filcos (only really high end keyboards) and you've only used the Filco it seems. PBT feels "soft" is really the best way to describe it. Almost... cool (temperature wise) It is more porous than ABS, and that is why they use it for dye sublimation. PBT keysets are very expensive, expect to pay $80+ for a set... I spent $110 for the reds for my Realforce.

I was actually tongue-in-cheek quoting 7bit's Round Four 4 Dummies.  ;-)

Can anyone tell whether or not the PIRATEFLAG is an option for this buy?  And on that subject, both the black print on dark-grey key and orange print on dark-gray key are listed as "Dark".  So, if PIRATEFLAG is an option, how would one specify the orange print and/or the black print?

Hey,
i want to buy the non standard keys for the choc mini plus tabs, leftshift and enter in pbt blank black. I already have the rest so i don't want to order the TENKLESS kit as i would end up with alot of spares.
Is there a kit which would be cheaper or do i need to order them seperately ?
if it is the second case, would the order look like this [the stuff in () is just added for you to better recognize which key is what]?

BLANKPBT/R3U225/BLACK (enter)
BLANKPBT/R4U225/BLACK (leftshift)
BLANKPBT/R3U175/BLACK (caps)
BLANKPBT/R4U175/BLACK (rightshift)

Probably ROUND3/TKL (and ROUND3/SPACE ) but you'd have to check the wiki for sure. Props to litster for the awesome pic!

7bit: will the phantom kit contain that tiny "return" key, and be in spherical?

Thanks you remind me in the PHANTOM kit. Yes, it will contain these keys ...

Quote from: Lamaboi;487323
Ah yes, I've read up a bit on the whole thing on Deskthority, they're SA and not DSA, so indeed taller.
Btw. does anybody know if SP got the tools to produce the additional key sizes that were missing when this whole group-buy started? Afaik they only had matching 1 unit keys for all rows, most modifiers were supposed to be 3rd row only and the Spacebar taken from DCS family. Was there ever an update on this?

The space bar will be 6.25 units (SPACE) and 7 units (SPACEUNI) which support quite a lot keyboards. SPACETIPRO is already in the repertoire of SP. Same for the innovative SPACE7BIT which comes in 1 and 1.5 units!
