White Filco MJ2 w/ Blue and Brown switches
« on: Sun, 04 September 2011, 22:03:39 »
Many people are looking for a White Filco Keyboard, but it is surely hard to get one.  Is anyone interested in purchasing the White TKL Keyboard in Brown and blue switches?

These are all BNIB.

I could include the original black keyboard Filco MJ2, but it might be a bit cheaper if you just buy from Amazon (because of their price and the shipping).

The prices will be the same for both brown and blue switches

White Filco MJ2 TKL - $168.50 (due to change in currency)

The pricing does not include shipping.

I will accept the shipping payments after everything is finalized, and I will estimate shipping to be around $15.

People who live in the Los Angeles area can also come pick up the board from me to save themselves money.

This group buy is not guaranteed yet, as I have to know if there will be enough buyers first.  I know I am new and all, but I promise you I am not weipim(I won't screw you guys over).

I asked if there was a difference between whites of the MJ1 or MJ2, and he said that he could not tell the difference.  I am assuming it will be cream white, not bright white.

I took this picture from dvdhsu (I hope you are fine with this).  http://i.imgur.com/m3dj4.jpg

I hope that picture will help you distinguish the colors of how the keyboard will probably look like.

TBH, I do not know if they even have a bright white colored keyboard.

Here is another picture.

Almost instantaneously!  I would say about 1-2 weeks to get here, then another 1-2 weeks to send all of them which is not much.

I bought 3 white Filco browns from army group in June for about $170.50 each shipped via EMS from Taiwan to me in the States.  It would be more expensive if you on buy one or two, though, due to shipping.  Might want to check with Army Group to see if it is any cheaper when buying 4 or more.  Though you would still need to reship to buyers again once the bulk package is received.  If your agent is shipping them separately and directly from Taiwan to the States individually, than it is a decent deal.

Good luck with the group buy!

litster says they go for $170.50 shipped.

If it is that cheap, then this group buy I guess is dead!

Well, if you buy just one from Army Group, it is more expensive because you don't get to share the shipping.  I bought 3, 2 for lopan and 1 for me, so we shared shipping.  The EMS shipping gets cheaper incrementally as you buy more units.  Lopan and I live close by so we don't have to re-ship.  Also, it is more hassle to buy from Army Group because you need to shop on their Chinese site, make sure you enter all information correctly, and pay via Paypal with a couple days of delay.  So if the difference is not that much between the agent and army group, it maybe worth it to go with the agent.  All I am suggesting is to check the Army Group option and compare prices.

I'm trying to decide on what filco to get myself. Personally I'm leaning towards a black just because I'm used to black keyboards. Are there reasons other than preference to get the white instead? Do the keycaps last longer, or wear out less, etc? What's the big benefit of the white over the black filco?

nothing, other than color.

and i guess you don't notice the shinyness of worn out keys on the white compared to the black keys

Black keyboards do show dust and skin flakes more obviously, where as white keyboards hide them better and easier to keep looking clean (not necessary cleaner).  But I have seen awful yucky keyboards in both colors.
