I'd like to know more about the original Red Esc. This is all I could find about it on sixty's website:
Quote
"These were originally made in very limited numbers for the "Teamwork" progamer keyboard designed by the Chinese wNv e-sports team and produced by Cherry."

Anyone knows more details? What year are they from, for an instance? Were they the first red escs around?

Strong words.  I find it inspiring.  Sometimes you have to fight the fights that need fighting, no matter the odds.

Vintage? Afaik these were made in 2010, and probably one of the very last double shot keys Cherry Corp ever produced.
Awry can't get them anymore as he stated earlier, so do not even try to ask him about it.
Only ripster, KL, sixty, and reaper have it on this forum. It would be wiser to harass them through PMs and close this thread.

According to sixty's website, the ones made in 2010 are actually a special order, while red ESCs were made before

Also, there is evidence on this very forum that Diatec made Red Escs in 2008. I assume this means that the first Cherry red ESCs were made before that year.

Good luck finding one, even sixty, who probably has the largest Cherry corp collection doesn't have a vintage version of it.
Diatec has nothing to do with Cherry Corp, as Cherry Corp never sold keycaps separately.

I believe that this is the keyboard that sixty's page refers to

http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=13093427140

I've seen them w/ a weird purple chameleon escape too

I know Diatec has nothing to do with Cherry, what I meant to say is that in my opinion, based on what I read here Cherry may have produced red ESCs before the special order in 2010 and possibly before Diatec itself. Anycone can confirm this?

EDIT: Thanks wanabe, I found more pics of that keyboard. Apparently it was made in 2008 or 2009.

So is this the first red ESC in the history of keyboards?

Yeah I know awry got it for a bunch of GH'ers on here a few months back, there's actually a lot more users with it then you think while I'm not going to name names but I have spoken with them over PM

As for vintage wise, I am down for the 2010 remake also.

I think sixty meant this keyboard by that special order. Apparently he specified 2010 by mistake.

Nice unit! I can hardly believe this is the origin of recent red esc fashion, though. Also, the esc key is actually white here, as far as I can see!

I had an offer on that ESC while I was in hospital, but sadly I missed it.

Awry has a list of people that want the Esc key but he doesn't have access to anymore and I doubt you will find anyone that wants to get rid of their for any reasonable price. You could look for years and never find another one.
