Reading the first 5 pages of this thread had me convinced this is what I should get for a first mech, but now I'm completely lost again. Oh well.

I've already decided to pick an rk-9000br for work, so I guess I'm in that boat. Just waiting for the $80 shipped sale again. The tenkeyless is for home. That's the tough decision.

For those of you GeekHackers from Australia... PC Case Gear has the 700's for preorder on their website.  Price tag of A$120 before delivery... Just about what I was expecting it to be.  Just preordered the Graphite colour board wtih Cherry Browns.  Was tempted to order the white version but since I'm already verging on OCD with my board care, I don't think I should add keeping a board flawlessly white to the list...  :)

They recieved their samples a few days ago.  Talk to the guy at PCCG about it and he had mention how solid the keycaps felt.  Looking forward to it.

i'm not sure they would do that. have they released key caps separately for other boards like the 300R?

If you have no interest in the board, why do you have so much interest in the caps? Can't you just buy caps that fit what you want instead of asking for something that seems like an odd move from a keyboard company that wants to promote one of their new products? Seriously, if they're gonna advertise PBT caps as a feature of the board, why would they take that feature and sell it as a separate product? Pretty sure they'd rather people buy the whole keyboard.

Anyway, has anyone managed to find some info on when these will be available in the US? Or knows of someone in Korea who would be willing to do a deal (seeing as how the website only ships to South Korean adresses apparently)?

Simple.  KBC won't manufacture blank black PBT's unless its a huge order (500 sets to be precise.)

Since Leopolds have come with Otaku keycaps and that Brian has hinted for the last year of bringing out keycap sets I thought it could be a strong possibility they could exist.
what are you gonna do about the keycaps with led-holes

Well I'm hoping so... The online retailer I've preordered from recieved their samples earlier in the week and I asked the guy about it over the phone and he said it the keycaps felt very solid.  A definitely improvement from the 200's...  The purist here will scoff at the inclusion of media fn keys but that really being nitpicky.  One nice little touch they are including with the board is a silicon dust cover for the board... a lot of people including myself use the plastic cover that comes with certain boards (Ducky, Filco) as a dust cover so it's nice that Leopold did that... not a major buying factor by any means but still nice.  I guess I would've prefered if they went with a Costar stabiliser rather than sticking with the Cherry style but it's nothing I can't get over.  Looks like Elitekeyboards discounting the 200's... but really it's not that great a price drop.  Wait for the 700's I reckon.

Edit: Oh speaking of dust covers... Does anyone know where the heck I can get a cover to fit my Topre 87U???  I've been searching around and no one has PC dust covers anymore... Doesn't have to be fitted... just want one that isn't the plastic wrap that the Topre came with....

I'm not seeing that EK has stock... am I missing something?  Funny thing is that it seems we Aussie's tend to be able to get stuff like this a lot easier than our US and Europe counterparts...  It's probably really only due to guys like MechKeyboards and PCCG... I think if it wasn't for those guys we'd have to import ourselves which would cost us an arm and a testicle.

Yeah was thinking about the white but ended up going for the graphite.  Too hard to maintain the whiteness I reckon... If I had a Mac then I'd probably go the white... I do wonder if it'll turn a little yellow over the years...

I'm not seeing it under EK, either. I did email him awhile ago (about a month ago) and he did not have any current plans at the time regarding the new keyboards.

Can anyone confirm his stock or email? I'm feeling lazy :D

Last I heard EK had no current plans to get the 700R?
Unless they've changed their minds, I think Ripster has successfully trolled y'all. (Well played.)
The EK guy is probably getting pretty sick of emails asking about the 700Rs by now.
Current collection:
Filco Majestouch 104-Key, w/ MX Browns
IBM Model M 52G9700
Leopold FC200R, "white" w/ MX Clears
Ducky DK9008S \'Shining\', white backlit w/ MX Blues
Cherry G80-3494(LCYUS-2), w/ MX Reds for Portal Mod

Not mine, but I\'ve got access to:
Filco Majestouch Linear R Limited Edition, w/ MX Reds
Filco Majestouch 2 \'Ninja\' Tenkeyless, w/ MX Blues
Leopold FC500R, w/ MX Browns

I have also heard that its normal practice for them to not give out any info prior to getting new stock. Seems like an odd coincidence that they have been having many of the current Leo's on sale. Who knows.
