This must be where that artist, whatsername, gets her keycaps.

Anyone live in the area, it might be fun to tak a field trip down there just to look. Maybe there are some ALPS or IBM in there (in with all those dell quietkeys :p )
My room-mate decided to cancel the internet without telling me.

I'd take the trip down there (about 2 hour drive) but I have a feeling it's not going to be worth my time.

Just thinking about the SP crap bags and how disappointing that was...

Massive amount of work.

No doubt there is $2600 worth of "X" in 5 metric tons of keyboards. Heck, at $50 each, that would only take 52 Model Ms, and we know that they made perfectly good ones Hecho in Mexico.

@ approx 5000+ keyboards @ approx $2 each for a quarter of them, throwing 75% away, you break even

if 10% of them are Model Ms, plus just a little extra, you come out OK

But then, I live thousands of miles away and am out of the running .....
I remember, back in the old days ....

That was the type of mentality that we had with the SP grab bags. We assumed, out of of the 1,000 keys we were each getting, we would be able to nearly complete at least one set of doubleshots for an 87 board, if not swap around with the 10-20,000 other keys from the other bags. I don't think anyone managed to complete one full set.

These lots are most likely just crap that they're trying to dump in bulk. I'd be impressed if you even found a handful of model M's in there. But i'd really like to see what the seller says in response to pulling off some of the keycaps though.

Maybe you guys could pay a few dollars and have a little look around, maybe buy a few. It would like fossicking for rocks except with keyboards.
Most of them actually look like M's with that triangular shaped side. But then again every manufacturer was trying to copy that design.

They're in Mexico - plenty of inexpensive labor.  Tell him you'll pay $ for M's.  I'm sure he could find people to pick through.

Of course, companies paid to have this stuff "recycled" -- no doubt people envisioned kids in third world countries surfing the internet on their "recycled" computers -- not just being dumped in Mexico.

Funniest thing I've seen on a forum in a while. Even just ask him to pop one. "Which one?" he replies.

I want to buy this just for the thrill. Where are those Storage Wars nuts at when you need 'em?

Customer service could be stronger with this seller - I just don't get the feeling he wants to earn the sale.
