Well, so far I think imsto has the best feeling, and best looking MX keycaps: his thick PBT blanks. They look spectacular on my filco, although the damn capslock, \ and ~ are the wrong colors. Those would be the ultimate keycaps if we could get them with custom dyesub printing, and/or laser etching with paint infill and a long-lasting protective coating that didn't muck up the look and feel.
Anyway, about these VERY thick ABS keycaps here: can we get them in pink; with BIG, centered, white, Frutiger legends? What are the prices?
Thick =/= good, this seems to be misunderstood by most people. While I personally thick is generally better it doesn't always translate
SP's PBT is actually very good, it actually feels better then imsto's/KBC's thick/thin PBT. The feeling of SP's PBT is really close to Topre RF's PBT and those are not very thick, but the quality of the keycaps are among the best right now (besides the silly ABS spacebar)
If it wasn't for the high price of custom PBT sets from SP that would definitely be the way to go (this and the fact that we have to pay for the PBT space bar mold which is like $500). If you haven't tried them I would definitely suggest it.
SP does get some errors in terms of misaligned images on the dye subs but they are known to replace them in a timely manner, besides this and the price I personally think it's the best customs out there (WASD's PBT is coming out soon so this might change in the next little while!).
In the end nothing beats a set of Cherry/NCR dye subs, those in my opinion feels the best and definitely lasts the longest.
I still hope to see QWERKeys to push out more variety such as modifier sizes keys so actual 87/104 sets could be made, the thing they have going for them right now is the Cherry profile but just pushing out 1x keys can only go so far.
