well, iirc the 520 is higher performance and endurance (spec for higher write cycles), but it's significantly lower capacity. intel and crucial ssd reliaility seems to be about the same

I'm able to make 120GB work (barely). 250+ GB seems pretty decent for a main drive especially if the prices keep going down. I've had some issues with my Corsair drive so I'd probably go with an intel SSD on the next upgrade.

Honestly 180GB isn't that bad for a main drive, especially for that price. I use an SSD as my main drive and two 2TB hitachi drives in raid 1 which works well. I also backup my main drive to the mirrored pair.

Hmm everyone agree?

I was about to get this...crucial 256 for $230
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004W2JL2A/ref=gno_cart_title_4.

I have the older Intel 120 and it's a bit flakey but that maybe all that OCN optimization **** I did.

And yes this is a repost due to the rollback and yes this is OT but give me a break here mods.

I read that the Crucial M4 was better in performance.  Just a couple weeks ago, I saw the 256GB M4 on sale (at Buy.com) for $200...twice.  I missed both chances, and I just made myself sad again.  I'd personally wait for M4's to go on sale again.

Crucial M4, Intel 520, Samsung 830, and Corsair Force GT are all good choices.

buydig.com has a deal on the Samsung 830 128GB/256GB's. It's better than the M4 so it's worth checking out. But if all else fails you can't go wrong with the M4 though as it's the best bang for the buck SSD out now.

Buydig requires too many steps to check price.

Well it was worth it. The 830 256GB sells for $290+ everywhere else, but buydig had it for less than $240. That's close to the price of an M4. If price is same there's no question you should get the 830 over the M4 as Samsung 830 has proven to be the most reliable and trouble-free SSD so far. Shipping does take long though.
