You must have a "sucky" P51 then LOL!!   But seriously, the P51 is a hard, non-flex nib and a standard pen shape which can be construed as boring.   But some of my P51s and customized P51s are my all time favorite pens.

And I like both the Vacumatic and the Aerometric variants.   I think I have about 100 of them LOL!!

I'm also a big fan of vintage Montblanc pens, but they start to get VERY expensive VERY quickly.    Especially if you're after the early celluloids.

Some awful potato pics of one sleeve of P51s:

Some of these were "free" while others were quite expensive.   Worse than collecting caps ..... I promise.   Always a variant you can't find ....... anywhere.

And one of my newest pens.   A custom Thompson Titanium Duofold with a Greg Minuskin ground stub.    I have about 10 different Duofold Centennial nibs that were tuned by Minuskin, Binder or left Stock.   Stock Duofolds write well, but aren't really too interesting.    And my hand writing is terrible, so I could use some help.   Give me a cursive Italic, a Stub, or a Music nib and I'm happy!!

I have two of these.   An earlier Centennial and a newer one    ;D ;D :thumb: :thumb:

These are a bit heavy for the thin dress shirt pocket, but they are super cool and great writers!!

Man that Duofold looks awesome. I gotta try one of those soon.

Bottom row, in the first picture of your P51 pen case, are those plum or burgundy? And is the plum/burgundy with the gold cap on the left side a Demi? Nice collection :D.

Can we get some pictures of the Mont Blancs? I've been really into the Boheme lately and I've tried some 149s that have impressed me. They are really pricey though :(.

Your office has P51s as daily use pens and mechanical keyboards?? Can I work there?!

Next time we trade, I want a nice hand-written note instead of a toothbrush (which is already being put to good use, though).

Wtf, I want a toothbrush @.@

I have a bunch of custom ground P51s.   Great pen and probably the most user friendly and reliable FP ever.

Some of my standouts are my stubs by Greg Minuskin, and my Pendletons, which write SOOO nice .....

You're into fountain pens too?! We need to talk! :D

I was actually just lamenting that I thought Parker 51s were a bit over hyped. It is quite user friendly though. Fits nicely in hand and to me, writes a lot like a ballpoint.

is the pendleton from sam at pendemonium?

For work purposes (I'm an Electrical Designer), I use Pilot Precise V5's in red, blue, green, purple, black, and teal to mark up drawings or do quick sketches.

For fine detail work, I use Pigma Micron 005

In general, I despise anything that writes at .7mm or larger unless I need a bold line. I gotta have my .5mm and smaller pens and pencils.

well that's one thing so great about [fountain] pens in general.....................all kinds for all kinds of people

to each his/her own

you probably wouldn't like many of my pens though since most of my favorites are .7 or bigger, although being i use to provide shop [architectural] drawings i do have a few fines, xf and needlepoints-- better and more for me

I really like the V5s. They're my go-to cheap-ish pen. I need to order some red ones online, because in the hell that was OfficeMax during school shopping they were fresh out of red V5s.

That Zebra is like the only mechanical pencil I can stand.

For reference, I have large handwriting and using fine instruments helps decrease its size somehow. I wouldn't be able to do math problems that require half a page.

I like zebras as disposable pencils, but I really prefer my Rotring 600.

Are the disposable ones nice to use?

Pilot Varsity pens have a surprisingly nice nib. I'm using an IBM branded one at work and it's great. Plus you can refill them if you don't wanna toss em.

Thanks, I'll get one of those before spending more money on a good fountain pen.

I'm currently using a TKMB pen or Titanium Montblanc as it uses MB refills. I also have one of the KarassKustoms pen because they work really well with most of the refills I use such as the pilot g2 and the Schmidt easy flow refills.

Btw I use the Karass Kustoms Copper pen (it also has anti microbial properties)

Still have yet to find a pen I like more than the G2 .07. The weight, the grip, the ink (thankfully I'm a righty), it's just perfect IMO. I've been searching for something better, but I've yet to come across something I like more.

Still have yet to find a pen I like more than the G2 .07. The weight, the grip, the ink (thankfully I'm a righty), it's just perfect IMO. I've been searching for something better, but I've yet to come across something I like more.

Karas Kustoms pens accept G2 as refills.

Ah snap, thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely be looking into picking one of these badboys up.

I have both the aluminum and the copper version. They are great aesthetically and they accept a wide variety of pen refills especially since they include a nice spacer and extras together with a second set of spring with a different stregnth

My favorite pencil, bar none. Had mine for 15+ years, then my wife breaks it in one afternoon :-(

Ouch, sorry to hear that. That's like losing an old friend! I've had mine for many years as well and it's the most reliable mechanical pencil in my opinion. The Rotring 800 is cool with the retractable tip and all but the feeling is not the same, it's not as stable. I just love my 600 and it goes wherever I go.

How did she break it? Seems pretty invincible.

Didn't replace it, but that's okay.  She's pretty amazing. Bought me a celluloid Stipula for finishing a very difficult seminary class. Class act she is.

My Stipula Etruria. It's a celluloid model. Has amazing depth and a beautiful shimmer in the light. My pics don't capture it.

Wife got it for me after I finished a grueling Theology of Jonathan Edwards class. Over 1000 pages of sermons and theo from the 1700's!

Oh I have to agree all around. The erasers they put on mechs are either too small... or too small and very crappy.

That's why I use these:
