I figured since I am visiting the site a bit more lately, I thought I would start this thread to see who else on GH might have the same interest I have in shooting sports.

I just got into it this year and it's been an enjoyable new hobby especially understanding all the technical and historical aspects of it. I defintely have tons to learn still but its been nice hearing from others who have been at it longer and slowly picking it up.

I thought it would be nice to start a thread for others to share their knowledger and also anyone thinking of picking up the hobby to ask questions in a less than intimidating setting like a "gun forum" sometimes is setup.

So feel free to post to this thread and contribute with the possible following:

  • General Discussion - Pistol and Rifles
  • Interested in Picking up the Sport - Post your general questions
  • Post a picture
  • New Pick Ups / What have you added
  • Deals Thread - Want to share a deal or coupon
  • Etc...

Here's my daily carry. Smith & Wesson 5906. Sold my Glock 17 to get her. I don't know which is my favorite between this one and my Beretta 92FS. Yes, I shoot 9mm.

Where else? Ha!

One of these days I'll post some pics of my Beretta, along with my Stag Arms 2T .223 AR-15, my Remington 870 12-ga shotgun, and my Savage 112 .270Win rifle. Maybe my wife will let me borrow her Springfield Arms XD45 or her Glock 19 long enough to take pictures of those.

If you break into my house, and you make it past all the dogs, you probably won't be happy when you leave.

Tell me about it... not unless you live in a rural area where the sheriff is pretty liberal, you are not getting one in a major california city.

I used to have a Benelli M-1 Super 90 Defense 12 gauge semi-automatic combat shotgun. I went trap/skeet shooting with it and caught nothing but hell when I popped off 6-7 rounds in 1.5 seconds. They didn't like me there very much.

Yea, it was, super light, super rad, ultra powerful, but a big responsibility for a guy like me that moves a lot. A hand gun or anything smaller than a combat shotgun would be better because it isn't so visible all the time.

Very nice. Sig is probably the only other manufacturer next to Beretta and S&W I would go with for reliability.

x2 ... I tried to avoid sigs due to the price, but once I got one I was hooked...As much as I like my light weight glocks. Something about a nice steel/alloy gun feel great to shoot.

I would only include classic SIGs in that. These American designed SIGs are not that great. Glops also face planted with Gen4. S&W has its duds as well.

Yes, classic SIGs are what I was referring to. And I should have stated "non-Sigma" S&W.

I don't own this Kimber anymore. It was fun to shoot but jammed constantly. I still carry the SOG Aegis often and the SureFire 6P is my nightstand light.

I don't own this Kimber anymore. It was fun to shoot but jammed constantly. I still carry the SOG Aegis often and the SureFire 6P is my nightstand light.

I don't own this Sig SP2022 anymore. Same HK P30 and my Ruger SR9c. Love the SR9c.

Am I the only person slightly weirder out by non-laymen calling firearms "guns" (like a few people in this thread)? Not criticising it, but to me a gun is either a shotgun, or it's a piece of field artillery or something mounted on a boat/aircraft. Calling pistols/rifles guns feels bizarre to me.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/gun
A gun is a gun.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/firearm
A firearm is more specific.

That's how I've always looked at it.

Guns and keyboards.  Do these two mix?

I use my keyboard to immerse myself into an in-game gun wielding lunatic. So why not mix it with some real world boomsticks?
