It's a Cycap from Nubbinator!  Triple-shot, no less!  The color is difficult to capture, but it's lemon yellow with a hint of green.

Sitting proudly on my keyboard now

Thank you, Nubs!  I love it!

Some vintage Minolta lenses, a project PCB, and various rubber feet for cabinets.  (I should really open a sale thread to start getting rid of random items I'm never going to use...)

Nice.  I've been eyeing some Rosewood and Tulipwood at the wood supplier near my home, but it's like $30 a pound and ****'s heavy.

So I got a new keyboard in the mail today:

Plugged it in and tested lock LEDS, so far so good:

I made sure all the keys work using Aqua's Keytest:

I removed the caps:

Then I removed the case and the PCB:

And now I have a nice pile of switches and stabs:

It is kinda sad that this is the quickest and cheapest way to get red switches right now, but such is life.
I stay busy with work and family these days, but I'm still around, lurking.

I don't think you can find loose reds anywhere for less than that right now. 7bit maybe, but there is a long delay there.

Yeah, they have some good prices on switches. I am sooo tempted to buy some of those tactile grays. I don't need them, I just want to add to my switch collection. Ridiculous, I know.

You know, even at $0.50 per switch, by the time you ordered costar stabs from WASD, you're looking at an extra $10. Plus this way you also get an extra USB cable. Even if you threw away the guts of the keyboard, you're still in almost the same price range as just buying one of these rosewills on sale. I think amazon has them for about $67 now. Plus now I have a board to play with :)

Yeah definitely nothing wrong with harvesting and the cool thing with the rosewill is you can get the black petal to make it programmable.

And the tactile grays are definitely interesting.

That would be 60g Red, in the usual spring context here.

I actually have a black petal and a frosty flake that I have yet to assemble. They're still just sitting there in the packaging.

I use one if these rosewills as a daily driver at work. It's modded to ghetto greens. I think they are great keyboards for what they cost. EDIT: This was actually my first mech board too. Great starter board I think.

I'm think about putting browns in this one. I want to try them, and also want my wife to try them. She is using a rosewill at work now that I made up for her with vintage ghetto reds. She likes those, so I want to see if she likes browns too.

Would it be cheaper to buy a cherry POS board with blacks and spring mod them to 45g red?

Yeah, it probably would be. It would be a lot more work though to open the switches. And the person I did this keyboard for wanted the red switches.

I have swapped many blue springs into black switches to make ghetto reds. I personally just don't type on reds though, too light for me.

A grand total of two days to cross the country via First Class.  Not bad USPS, not bad at all.

Wow that was quick, especially since I was recently informed to expect to have to wait up to a few weeks for a package from a fellow geekhacker that was 'sent' first class.  ::)

Anyways today I received two GHPads thanks to one awesome geekhacker and his mad soldering skills.

I also received some very awesome orange stickers from another awesome geekhacker.

Eh, decent shape. Some were shiny, some were pretty clean. Visible wear but not shiny. Under the caps tho, was a lot of random crap and god knows what.
