Do WASD keycaps fit a poker keyboard?
« on: Wed, 29 August 2012, 17:26:32 »
I just purchased a Poker keyboard with some PBT keycaps. I love the keycaps and will continue to use them for a while but my question is will the WASD keycaps fit on a Poker? I really hope they do so I can add some color to this keyboard. Thanks ahead of time.

Yes, but the profiles may not match

WASD uses OEM profile, your PBT's might be cherry or SP profile
Vendor Status: Sadly, not taking any orders/pre-orders at this time

If Poker PBT then it will match 100% profile with wasd as they are the same. All MX keycap is compatible across all mx based keyboards if it has the same units size and stem position.

ONLY if you're only using one set of keys.  Using more than one set with different profiles will create height and angle differences between keys.

I'm not going to use more than one set at a time. If I put WASD keys on it will be all WASD. I just wanted to make sure nothing was "funky" like some other keyboards. Thanks for all your help.

That kinda thing sets my OCD off.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Poker is ANSI layout and uses OEM keys. The stock PBT keys you mention therefore are OEM as well. I believe WASD uses OEM profile.. so same, as poker, filco, ducky etc.

Yeah I don't think I have OCD but the different key profiles would drive me freaking crazy.

As long as all your A-Z keys are the same, it's not that big a deal, though it's also a good idea to have the modifiers be the same height also. If you have cherry DS A-Z keys and OEM modifiers, it's really pretty easy to still use. I rather liked the higher modifiers when I had my keyboard that way as they were a little easier to hit.
