Filco Camo Key Caps Discussion
« on: Mon, 10 September 2012, 01:34:13 »
Calling all Filco Camo users! I was trying to think of ideas for what to dress up my camo keyboard with. Right now I have some black blant PBT's coming from feng, but was wondering what others have been putting on their keyboards. Here are some that I was able to find. Please post up pics that you thought were interesting.

Bonus points for the people that have pictures of the double-shot keycap set that jil put on hold. I still have no idea what that set looks like, lol.

I have a camo, and in fact I have a second one incoming soon since the ninja I ordered had a problem and by the time I got it RMA all the browns were gone, so I am up for a second camo.

So I was thinking myself, what set would look the more badass on this thing. Right now, I think that maybe a set with light camo green on black and inversed modifiers could be nice, but it's hard to tell without seeing it.

BTW, is there a program that you all use to "simulate" keysets?

P.S.: If u can find a picture of this orange keyset on camo it would be nice  ;D

If those originated from where I think they did, then good luck finding even a single set of 4.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

As much as some of us might to carpet a KB with CC's, picking such a super-limited one to do it with would certainly be ... expensive.

It would look nice, though.

And welcome to Geekhack!

I think reaper is winning this thread so far haha. Love the Dolch on this board.

Dolch on camo is by far the best looking option (or other gray set like MO1 or R3). If you want, also adding a R3 gamer set (hunter orange) might be a nice touch.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

Reaper wins! Although, personally I'd go with the black engraved pbt caps. It would complement the board perfectly. And if I was the one with the camo wasd cc set, I'd throw those on there to break up the black.
Looking for CC's!

It looks identical to the 5th picture in the 1st post, except with a red esc keycap.

I think the best looking keycaps for the Multicam are the Round 1 Dolch caps like on this keyboard:

I actually think the yellow can work but needs to be paired with something other than the stock filco caps as the base set. Camo matches  every thing you know :)

The Dolch scheme is awesome.

My son's faux-camo Model M with PBT caps done in 15-20 minutes of RIT "Dark Green" (with special keys similar with "Sunshine Orange" and "Scarlet")

The mottled effect was completely random and not planned or encouraged. The caps were cleaned very well before the dye bath.
