So the guy is ok with cutting 2 different plates without counting it as 2 separate orders? If that's the case, can we also sneak in a plate design for PURE? If so, I'll see if I can make the DXF file for PURE layout.

And I'm guessing it won't be a problem to switch from cherry stabilizers to costar stabilizers?

I'd rather run another GB for any misc plates that need to be made. I'm already planning a GB for the GH60 plates, am about to pm lister about Phantom plates and am going to do another IC for other layouts people want. After all that, I'll be running a "mix bag" plate GB will all those listed above.

Give me some time and let me finish this GB before starting another one. I'm sure there are other people who want a pure plate ^___^

Alright guys, orders came rolling in and now it's seemed to stop. So I might just start invoicing earlier to give to guys more time to pay. Also, there are 2 plate designs to pick from now and if you would like to change your order, PM me or fill out the change order form I pm'ed a week ago Just a reminder, I will not be extending the order time frame and I will not be accepting late payment whatsoever (no excuses).

Also, I had a prototype plate made and it should be here soon ^____^

Potato pics will have to do ^___^

I emailed him at 12:30pm and the plate was cut by 2:30pm, but that was because I had to send him payment info while in a class ^__^

Oh snap serious pony is serious :O

I need to send payment by Nov 1st or I may not be able to pick them up during my thanksgiving vacation. If I start accepting late payments, I'll have to have them shipped to me and shipping 25 lbs of stainless steel will just add to the overall cost for no real reason. Plus I haven't gotten any new orders since the 11th so why keep it open? ^___^

But good news is that the prototype plate will be in the mail today and I should have it by the weekend. At first I wasn't going to do a prototype but since this is the first time I've used this guy (The company I work for has used him, but this is the first time I've personally used him), it wouldn't hurt.

Interested but I've never done this before, would I have to take apart the switches for the poker (planning on getting one so I don't know the layout too well yet) to put this in? just wondering if I'll have to solder stuff because I don't trust my solder skills yet to do something like this just yet.

How the switch tool?

It's 1/16" thick material so it's too thick to fit in the slots of the switch. A bit of sanding or a minute on the mill should fix that. But other than that it fits just fine.

Looks nice, very interested when you do a Pure plate, or the GH60 when that becomes available. Also when will the switch tool be for sale?

Pure plates should run with the mix bag/GH60 plate buy (if someone sends me a dwg or the GH60 has a pure layout {which I think it does}). I'm going to be ordering some of the cherry switch tools at the same time as these plates and should be on sale shortly after that.

I think the GH60 will use 1.5x size ctrl/shift and 1x size win so it is a little different from the Pure layout.

Yes, from ekw808 recent GB for clears

I think the GH60 will use 1.5x size ctrl/shift and 1x size win so it is a little different from the Pure layout.

Not sure, I thought there was a pure style layout.

I'll be buying some at the same time as this GB and selling them.

Bottom of the plate (I have the COSTAR STABILIZER on wrong)

Top of the plate:

Little slide show:

Top finish (not the best):

Bottom finish:

Cherry tool:

Issues:
1) When he cut them he did them upside down so that when he "timesaved" (basically running through a surface sander) the plate he gave the better finish to the bottom of the plate
2) Burn outs (see 3rd picture)
3) Burrs

Solutions:
1) Have him "timesave" both sides so they both have the bottom finish or indicate what side is up
2) See 1
3) I could break them off with my fingers except the ones in the poker suit cutouts. I had to use a small file

Are those burn marks normal for laser cutting? Can they be wiped off or is do you need to sand it off? And it looks like there is some kind of defect with that spade in the 2nd pic.

The burn marks are standard fare with a laser.  The stuff that looks like it shouldn't be there is just chaff that didn't completely get removed, this is most prevalent in tight spaces.  A lot of times it just takes a little wiggling with your finger or shove on it with a micro screwdriver.

So no tolerance issues at the edges of the cut out holes or the 0.0625" thickness? Cherry specified 0.060", but it looks like the switches still mount on fine, unless it's because the bottom of the plate was already sanded down to 0.060". Maybe mount the whole stabilizer setup to confirm the fit.

The plate works great, switches fit and so do costar stabs. I haven't tried it with cherry stabs yet but it should work

Alright, I'm super glad I did a prototype.

Problems:
1. Cherry spacebar stabilizers didn't fit
2. Cherry stabilizers are tight
3. Costar stabilizers fit in the slots but don't work. The legs of the black part of the stabilizing system are deflecting inward not allowing the white insert to freely move.
4. Cannot open switch tops on stabilized keys (except the spacebar)

Solutions
1. alixinhzai said to flip the cherry style mount on the spacebar location when he passed me the design, I forgot, it's upside down. It will be fixed before sending to the cutter
2. I'm going to be adding a few thousandths on the left and right of the cherry stabilizer cutout
3. Nothing, it's due to plate thickness. You'll have to sand need the costar stabilizer cutouts if you want them to work. Sanding around the mounts should stop the deflection.
4. Nothing, I don't feel comfortable taking away anymore support from the switches

Other than that, it's a nice plate. Switches are nice and tight, it makes the poker feel much more solid and adds ~1/3lbs to the total weight.

For those of you that want to have all your switches openable with the plate, get yourself a file.  Look at the image of the plate, there's really not much material that would need removing.  There's always the chance that you won't keep Cherry plate mount stab compatibility doing this.

Beast, you might ping Litster he's the closest up the food chain still posting that dealt with Phantom proto's.

And here's a picture :)

So, if I understand this right, you just have to shave off a little where I marked it red?

The space bar switch has the least support, right? (judging from the plate design)
Do you, Beast, feel a difference between space bar switch and any other switch when pressed? If not, why not redesign the plate?

Well, the spot that would need shaving for the best results are the vertical lines to the left and right of the switch.  Trim them so that you are widening the switch hole.  The only support the switch gets at this point is from the top and bottom edges of the plate hole.  I MIGHT be able to figure out how to do this with a pic...

How much material would sanding both sides of the finished plate remove? Not enough to fit costar stabilizers without further sanding right?
