I'm assuming we would have to provide springs if we wanted something like ergo-clears or clears with gold springs?

yes was just going to write something up about that. If you want ergo clears you can buy clears and red/brown/blues or if you want to use Custom Korean springs you can provide them. Also we will sticker your switches when lubing them but can not provide switch sticker at this time sorry.

I've never typed on lubed switches, is there really that much of a difference or is it just to help if there is an issue with the sticking at activation point (like some ergo clears have for example)?

yes there is a big diference when you lube enough and in the correct places. I for one have never had that problem with ergo clears, yes that may come up just a tad slower than a normal clear but ive never had them stick but i assume it would if yo ufor some reason had that problem.

Is the case for the PLU-87 actually available to buy separately or is the plan to buy the keyboard and harvest the case?

no not separately, it will be harvested for the case and switches and by doing that pays for it self in the end.

Prof,

How much experience do you have?

Are you guaranteeing your work?  I'm just curious because I'm planning on sending you two of my PCB's for full assembly.

Can I order switches dirrectly through you or do I have to supply my own?  Is every cherry switch created equal?  for instance are the switches on crapy chineese boards the exact same on a Filco?
Same question for Plates, cases, stabalizers, usb cables, can I get everything from you?

Thanks Prof

Nooby here!

Im looking to build my own phantom.

Im not looking for assembly or anything like that but i cant seem to find anywhere that will be selling mounting plates.

Im a bit confused by the OP, will mounting plates be offered in a separate GB? Is it possible to just purchase a mounting plate, and maybe switches (seems like good prices for them) aswell through this?

Again, not looking for assembly services, just parts.

This will be my first build, and look forward to it being a fun project for myself. Im thinking of using the toxic set for it aswell.

Thanks alot, please tell me if im wrong or confused by something. :)

I have a fair bit of experience i would say. i have been soldering since i was younger. I got a FX-888 last year for christmas. Since then i have built 4 Phantoms and 2 KMACs and rebuilt a KPAD among numerous other things that needed to be fixed.

Yes everything is tested after being soldered and will be 100% working before lit leaves.

Yes you can order switches though this GB I already have pricing up for those. Yes they are the exact same switches that is why I have noted that you can use the switches from the PLUs not just the case.

Yes you will be able to buy everything from me I am working on tracking everything down and getting prices, though it is hard right now because of the holidays.

There is boost who is working on a custom case.
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=38360.0 - smallfry and salisen who are trying to get cad files put up for a custom case that would fit a filco/phantom
http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=28436.240 - batmann says swede will be back in business soon

=D none of these are complete but I will keep following up on it and hopefully they might come up with a good case in due time.

yes it is you would have to get the stem/spring swap service and then either provide spring or buy switches that have your required springs.

I dont have any but I did find a review on DT http://tinyurl.com/c5b9w6o

I can also post some pics of my finished phantoms that use a PLU-87 case but they have been modified to fit my prefered Phantom layout.

Couple of questions. I am probably going to get clear switches, can I still pay to have you desolder blue switches from the plu87 board and have you send those back with the finished board? I've never tried clears before so I'm not sure if I'll keep those or replace the springs later to make ergo clears.

Second, does the plu87 board come with cherry or costar stabilizer?

Edit: just saw the note in the op that said extra plu87 parts get shipped back , so disregard the first question lol

I can desolder the blues for you and if you went for the Stem/spring swap + assembly service I could make those into ergo clears right away for you

yes it comes with costar esk stabilizers

its cool but as a note we wouldnt desolder the switches unless you checked the box.

One is in the works, just have to wait to get it here in Canada. Which will take awhile for shipping this time of year. In the meantime, I'm really considering getting SMD diodes instead of thru-hole...although I did mod all those switches already.....

Don't mean to derail this thread, but I got mine the same time as theProf, moonshake and acetrak all got there's. KMAC LE from Sherryton. I have a feeling he may have some more goodies available once he gets his on-line store up and running.
