Oldest Model M SSK?
« on: Thu, 10 January 2013, 20:20:02 »
So lately, I've been giving my BS keyboards a little TLC, when I came across an interesting discovery. One of my Model M SSK's has a manufacturer date of 12MAY87 (May 12, 1987) which got me thinking, this might be the oldest SSK I've seen.

I did a brief search through a few forums and so far I haven't found an older SSK. Closest was an ebay auction for a 13MAY87 board.

Anyone out there with an older SSK?

Well we're getting closer ;)

It seems June/July is when they really started to ramp up production.

totally forgot about this on clickykeyboards:
http://www.clickykeyboards.com/index.cfm/fa/pages.main/pageID/3
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Amwr_8tmy8pZdDAtWExCUzlma2Qzc0hCY3hzUExFZFE#gid=0

so it seems like OP has a really old one... But there are lower IDs in the list from boards that were younger.

My current SSK is from 93. But have two older ones in the mail, will post the date when they arrive.
Also have a look in my thread about Model M dates: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=38878.0 Maybe somebody has a funny/special date to add? We need more SSKs there. :)

Where was that spreadsheet... I think clicky keyboards or Unicomp has a spreadsheet with M's and their dates etc on it.

Don't they only track the 1391401 model?
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

They do quite a few models... Scroll down to the IBM model M space saving keyboards (84-key) on the Model M archive project page http://www.clickykeyboards.com/index.cfm/fa/pages.main/pageID/3 :)

They have several part numbers for the SSK.

1392934
1393278
1394054
