Geekhack Pack Feb '13: GEEKHACK NEW VEGAS
« on: Mon, 04 February 2013, 08:51:18 »
"Green, I'm liking green", I said, downing the rest of my drink. The bar was smokey, cocktail waitresses with ironic bunny ears circled the tables behind us. "I'm not feeling it," said |3oilermaker. He was sipping a light yellow beer, or some kind of swill anyway. "Red maybe?", he said; the bartender eyed us through the light haze of secondhand smoke, the constant flashing and beeping of video poker and slot machines reflected in the mirror behind him. We were planning on making a traditional geekhack key for February. We'd been trying to decide on the color for the the last hour. We weren't getting anywhere. "Screw this," I said and stood up.

At the blackjack table. "Dark green." |3oilermaker put his cards down. "Red, man, I'm feeling it," he tapped the table and another card hit his stack. "I got it," I said, "let's roll for it. Odds we go green, evens we go red." "We don't have any dice," he said. "Well, **** then, I guess you better make some."

I miss the monthly GEEK HACK Esc keys. The ones demik was doing. Not that I don't like these special packs, but I wish we had one for just that one key again.

Yeah, but it was usually just a standard SP GH key.  The past few have been somewhat more interesting.

Shipping :(
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Yep, USPS international rates almost doubled on Jan 28. Sucks for everyone, but unfortunately they are still the cheapest option for shipping from the US. Looks like it's going to stop quite a bit of the international participation in buys on here. :(

unfortunately there's nothing we can do about the new international shipping costs :(

if you want to do some low-volume distribution in your non-US home country though, talk to |3oiler about volume pricing :)

Any chance of getting a 7, 8, 9, 0 set of those Vegas keys? I don't know if 0 would have a "0" or nothing on it and I don't really care. Would just love to be able to all the number keys. I don't think I would be happy with just 1-6 while my 7-0 just looking so bland.

An alpha+sumbol keys set in the style of January would also be cool.

Where is the 7 on a standard set of dice?
