Bids will extend the bidding for five minutes for the first half hour after ending time. Of course, if there is no extending bid, that item will close before the thirty minutes are up.
Example: User1 bids at 5:58:59 EST. This then extends that item until 6:03:59 EST. If there are no more bids after that time, the item has found a winner.
This will also prevent sniping for the first half hour of the auction.

You will probably receive more donations if you provide the back story in the OP. Not everybody knows what this is about, and so why would they donate?

Even though there's a lot already, I'll gladly take whatever you want to offer.

To everyone else, I'm going to dinner, then I'll do the initial price update in the first post.

You will probably receive more donations if you provide the back story in the OP. Not everybody knows what this is about, and so why would they donate?

To this and the rest, I've asked maria and glissant to take a couple minutes to explain what led to this situation as they can explain it much better than I.

You will probably receive more donations if you provide the back story in the OP. Not everybody knows what this is about, and so why would they donate?

While I'm not a super fan of it, it's alright broface.

It's not really our place to tell their story. I'm sure it will be explained in time and you'll all understand my bid. Just be patient and know that GH takes care of their own...or at least I do :D

oh **** off, people are just curious. and perhaps a little worried about glissant and we hadn't had an answer.
now shut up about ****ing thread crapping. asking a question/giving advice is NOT thread crapping, especially when done politely like this. posts are not gold dust

furthermore not EVERYONE on the forum especially newer members will know about glissant, so ofc they should know why they should bid, hell even id be wary of bidding before i knew, and i think glissant is a great guy.

Here's a little backstory of what happened for anyone who was wanting to know:

Last summer while Noel (Glissant) was here in the US, his dad suffered a series of strokes. While we scrambled to put money together so he could go back home and take care of his dad, his father was in an out of the hospital and recovery clinics. When he finally got home, he was faced with the heavy responbility of caring and helping his dad out where he had once been able to manage  on his own. This included many trips to and from the recovery clinic, which was pretty far from where they currently live, various therapy sessions, and a lot of lost sleep to say the least. My father-in-law is 64, so you can imagine how long it took before he was able to be out and about without us worrying too too much about him.

Unfortunately, during this whole time there, Noel has had to spend all of his savings in hospital bills, regular bills that racked up while his dad was in the hospital, and alot of extra things that suddenly come with having to care for an elderly stroke-recovery patient. It's been 8 months since Noel was home (here in the states), and although his dad is doing a lot better, it's been very difficult with the money situation. Up until this point, we had no real hope of being able to see him any time soon.

If you guys want all the in-depth details, Noel explained it way back when he had an auction to raise money to help pay for the expenses of his dad being in the hospital etc.

We really cannot express the appreciation we have for this community. We both could not believe it when the idea of this thread was put forward, and we are both very much appreciative of anything that can help reunite our family.

Up until this point, we had no real hope of being able to see him any time soon.

oh **** off, people are just curious. and perhaps a little worried about glissant and we hadn't had an answer.
now shut up about ****ing thread crapping. asking a question/giving advice is NOT thread crapping, especially when done politely like this. posts are not gold dust

furthermore not EVERYONE on the forum especially newer members will know about glissant, so ofc they should know why they should bid, hell even id be wary of bidding before i knew, and i think glissant is a great guy.
