I'm loving my new tripod--should have gotten it much much earlier!

I need to get a better lens, or something, because I can't take any close up shots.
I just have an Olympus micro 4/3 with a 45mm f1.2

How are you setting up your camera to do close-up photos?  Are you bringing it very close to the cases or placing it at some distance + using max optical zoom?  The photo you linked is not macro, because those objects are quite large vs. your distance from them.  Macro would be trying to take a photo of a keycap on one of those keyboards.

The closest objects I can focus on with my current lens are about 2 and a half feet away, and my lens doesn't zoom, so I can't get any closer.

Ah, no zoom :(  Do you have a telephoto lens with zoom that you could use instead?  (looks like no, just checking).  Also, nope, can't tell! :)  Most people who are "new to photography" wouldn't even know what lens they have, and you actually listed some details.

That looks amazing. I'd say it's the best picture on the thread so far. The keyboard and the benchmade look great together.

I think that is the same grease as is used in the new switches, just aged/dirtier (and in a greater amount than usual - but I've seen similar colored grease in new MX switches).

Thanks! ;D Although, I think the photo of the stems is way out of focus. It's really hard to get the focus right with these extension tubes. They do a great job considering they cost £10, but the focusing is really tricky.

Tactile greys are cool. I'll use them in my phantom with some lighter springs once my phantom arrives.. :-X

You're probably right about it being the same lube. The amount is far, far greater than any switch I've seen before though.

took in a switch and keycap for my photo class..project is 'an object that means something to you'

I'm having to explain what this is to everyone lol

this is a different dslr, owned by the school, my d90 produces better photos on auto, and i would change the settings to make it look good on my d90, but the display screen is ****ed due to my little brother, so thats getting fixed. it's basically stuck on auto.

my flickr is auto shots from my d90

I like the coffee pics. Have you taken a pic of the keypop coffee caps on your coffee yet?
I don't have the coffee set sadly, they were sold out before I got into keyboards afaik. I might as well buy the single coffee cap though :)

Wow!

Much orange.

Very fruit.

Such awesome.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Alpsulator modded to Matias Clicky/Tactile Pro switches.

There's a bit of a glare but I like how it looks. The focus on the bottom left corner where it's kinda bright then fades back. Got lucky with the shot and decided to keep it 'cause it was cool to me :D.
