Such a large duck for such a small keyboard ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

^ Nice, especially black switches :)

Ducky kinda got it right with the legends on the number row - both are backlit, but the numbers are slightly lower.  The older Duckies put the numbers at the top of the key caps, like you have to press Shift to get them.

That's a very light shade of blue - I though only the Ducky Zero had such light blue.

The last picture is very hypnotic ;D

Interesting.  The third pic looks white, the fourth maybe, the others definitely look light blue to me

"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Quick question on the shine 3, i heard a batch of shine 3's have problems with them, and i was planning to sell my ducky shine zero and upgrade to a shine 3. should i still bother with all of these problems just recently occurring?

I just read through this entire thread and I have to say, there are some good looking Duckies in here. Quite inspiring.

I'm new to the club as I've only had my Ducky for a couple of weeks. I'm really enjoying it!

Shine 3 - MX Brown

I have since replaced the four extra keys above the numpad with some blank ABS caps. I've also fixed the tops of the caps so they don't have that little bit of light bleeding through a few of them. I really like the look of the opaque tops on the doubleshots.

Nice and clean :)

Any thoughts of finding a cable to match the keycaps?

No, I just got that cable from Pexon. It's blue because my Define R4, M-Audio speakers and Ducky has blue leds also, in the end I don't know where that came from to get all blue. Purple caps were kind of a extempore buy but blue leds makes the caps look like gray, so I don't want to use anymore backlighting.  :)) I kinda don't want blue caps, so it's for now that way. Poker II is on the way, same brown switches and blue leds and I thought to keep it with black caps so it would match with blue cable and other leds.

But Ducky is pretty that way too, so it's not soooo bad thing. :-*

Hey guys, my first post here!
After lurking for a while, seeing all the cool(and sometimes expensive) keyboards and artisan keycaps on GH I now don't feel so bad about my 130USD expenditure.
And this is what 130 dollars got me;

The Ducky Premier with Cherry MX Brown switches. Don't mind they keyboard in the back, that's just the old Razer Blackwidow Ultimate that the Ducky is replacing. Bought it before I saw the light.  :D
The Ducky looks good, but keeps me craving for cheesecake so I've ordered the Max translucent black keycaps to try out since it was half price due to the Black Friday sale.
Loving the keyboard so far. Feels solid unlike the Razer, which is going to be my project board. Already ordered LEDs to try soldering on.

Hoping to learn more from the people on the forum. So many new things about keyboards that I didn't know even existed before this!

Cheers,
Ali  :thumb:

Thanks for the welcome. Got a bit worried when no one replied to my post  :))
I'm starting to slide a little. Already ordered a translucent black Max keycap set and getting a SP cloud key from the classifieds and having it sent over to replace my escape key. I'm going to name it "escape to the clouds".
I'll wait till my keyboard is out of warranty before modifying the LEDs. For now, my old mechanical will suffice as a test board. Planning to swap out the LEDs and paint the top. If i get good enough at soldering, I can begin to customise boards for friends.
As I've already said in other threads, I've been reading on the artisan caps and have already fallen in love with them. In my head I already have an idea if which stock caps they will replace.
I hope I don't go all crazy and start buying everything to pimp out my board.
Though I am hoping to learn more about modifying my board from you guys, especially the electrical parts. That would be a big challenge since I don't have any background in it. For now, I'm concentrating on aesthetics, trying to make the Premier truly mine

I must say, seeing all the TKL Shines on this thread makes me somewhat regret getting a non-backlit keyboard sometimes.  :-\

Lol no dude. The only thing I have lit is the snake spacebar, and it's dimly lit. The rest of the lights are always off. I only use the backlights to show off, which is not that often once every one of your friends has seen it. Unless you want it just for that purpose, you're not missing out.

I do use the backlight often as i usually type in the dark but only set it to the lowest level.
Sometimes i need to remind myself why i bought a non-backlit keyboard.
1. i need to touch type better
2. i couldn't stand it when one of the keys on my old board did not light up

I want the red nonaproval and the Spongebob caps :p

I used backlights before, now it just makes purple caps looks gray. Odd what purple cap and blue light gets that. But if you buy a board it's just same to take with backlit, IMO.  :D Because your'e need it sometimes that's for sure. :p

second that.sometimes you just need the backlight. The white ones i have on now pick up the glow from the monitor quite well so for now I have no problems. but i may have a problem with the Max key caps.time will tell though.

Ever thought about swapping out the LEDs to a different colour?

Nope, it isn't worth it. I just don't use backlit for now, easier way is just black caps again if it's too disturbing to watch with backlit on. I ordered Poker II few days ago, I'd patch up the mistake by taking white leds but realised there's just blue and green. :-X

Still I'm just thinking should I sell the Ducky after the other one's here.. :-\

I'd just had to order it, I have some obsession with 60% boards.

I just noticed that now with the Pexon USB-cable this Ducky goes crazy if there's backlit on. Some keys may do ggggggggg or they just don't write anything. Is this cable problem? Pexon? Or is the Ducky whipping out?

I'm more tempted by normal TKL ones....
Don't take my word on this because I'm still new to the mechanical keyboard scene, but I've read that certain cables do not work on the ducky. some guy had to go through a few cables before he found one that worked.

I've tried those Max translucent caps and I didn't particularly care for them. They did look very nice with the backlight but I wasn't too fond of their texture. I think you may find that you prefer the feel of the PBT caps that came with your Premier. Leopold makes some really nice black PBT caps, or you could try Vortex PBT caps if you plan to mix and match them with the Ducky caps since they are both OEM profile.

Then again, you might absolutely love the Max keycaps.
