Just woke up at 10pm and realized I slept for over 17hrs straight. WTF, how is that even possible?
easy peasy.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Moved into my new house. Still stuff to do, but we are in (well if you can count everything being in boxes still "in"). Pretty major milestone. :). 12 weeks without a day off. Not sure the streak will end just yet, but I am feeling a little better now.

First world problems:
- all my keyboard are packed.
- I don't have internet.
- I still have to wire up the cable and Ethernet cables to even put in internet.

Oh let's see...

I woke up at 8, then went to get coffee and a sausage egg and cheese croissant from Dunkin Donuts.

Came home and enjoyed my breakfast.

Farted around online for a while until Microcenter opened.

Went to Microcenter to get a GTX 980 for my briefcase build and decided to hang out for a bit talking to the folks in the Build Your Own PC department (they're my friends).

While at Microcenter, I got into a verbal altercation with another customer who rudely walked up and interrupted one of the guys helping another customer, acting like he owned the place. The customer was asking about a power supply and this mental backbirth decided that he just needed to be helped immediately. I put my hand on his chest and politely, yet firmly, told him that the guy behind the counter was helping another customer at the moment and that he would have to wait his turn. Guy looked at me and slapped my hand away then started cursing me out, threatening to kick my ass. I got right into his face and told him in a quiet and deathly serious voice that if he tried, I would burn him down and salt the earth. He wisely shut up then left.

About an hour later, I left and drove around for a while, eventually heading homewards where I picked up another coffee on the way and stopped at Lowes to pick up a dozen pumice sticks (I tell you... got a hard water stain or something that just will not come out with conventional cleaners? These bad boys handle it with ease).

Got home and did some more farting around online, and now I'm here.

Today I went to a local-ish electronic's store (Fry's) and checked out the keyboards there. First taps of mechanical switches. Spent a good while there and decided on MX blues. Browns were too soft and reds just didn't feel right to me. They had like 50 keyboards out and approximately 4 mechanicals >_>;

Anyway it was cool. Fun day.

Ah cool, you have ethernet inside the walls?  I've got ethernet inside the wall in my appartment... Die WiFi, die ;)

(I've got WiFi too that said)

Today I did fix a shiny shelf I bought for 50 EUR... It's all chrome + glass and the chrome was rusty everywhere. I removed the rust with coke (Coca-Cola) then removed the coke with water. Then WD40.  And now it's all dry and shiny again. Coke seems to works wonder to remove rust from Chrome as long as there aren't holes already.

I put that shelf in my office and I may use it to display some of my keyboards  :p

Ya. I put cat6 between my office and the router as well as between my TV center and router. I put coax in with it, but probably won't use that in my office.

I should paint my room. I painted it after I got home from Japan, 3 grey walls and one red wall. I might paint a design on the red wall.

Yeah, I can understand. Most of my house is either a warm grey or an eggshell white, with gloss white trim. The kitchen has tiled walls (tiles made by mother), and the bathrooms are all lime green.

My parents repainted everything but the kitchen about a year ago.

He wisely shut up then left.
i sincerely hope you seek professional help as soon as possible.

Why?

1) It wouldn't help.

2) I would never actually do that unless my life was in jeopardy. I just have the gift of looking 100% sincere even when laying out what is quite obviously bull****.

Getting close to finishing the fine tuning on this sensor adapter module.  Newer BMW instruments into an older model.  Using a DAC to create a voltage is easy, but for this I needed to emulate a resistance.  PWM, mosfets, filter caps, decoupling caps, two stages to get the range I need, and 120 lines of Arduino code.

Breadboard is still missing half of the protection circuitry, will be more populated when it's jammed onto a real PCB.  Automotive power is noisy as hell!

edit: As it stands, my output ripple is 15mV.  This cluster is pretty sensitive, it'll reject a signal completely if it's too noisy.  It'll also reject the signal if it swings too rapidly during testing.

installed cyanogenmod on my phone (which is neither officially nor unofficially supported by the mod).

i came to the point where i wanted to break my samsung mega 5.8 off the wall. It was lagging. It became buggy when receiving a call: moving a slider would not accept a call, but just make some vibration. Even if it could accept a call, they won't be able to hear me, and the connection would interrupt in 20 seconds or so.
It became unbearable. I decided i don't need a phone which can't, well, be a phone. I thought all android devices were like that, so i considered buying an iphone or a blackberry. Saw both iphone 6 and blackberries at the stores and wasn't impressed much. Tried new top grade android phones with 4.4 and realized those weren't laggy. Finally, android devices that don't lag, awesome.
I thought it would be nice to just buy a flagship phone with 4.4, spent like two days researching the market and reading reviews and then all of a sudden found out the last week post on a russian pda forum about the cyanogen mod which finally was available for my device. I installed it and it was awesome. No lags, no samsung ****, no google crap, splendid.
But i needed software. Decided to go with amazon app store. Installed it, ran, logged in and... It turned chinese. I spent, like, 15 minutes trying to find the language option in its menus, but failed. Logged in to amazon from my pc and found out that i entered wrong password on the device. Logged in correctly on the phone and interface turned english. Wow, amazon is so original. Nevertheless, i found out that it lacks the programs i need, so i installed google play from a zip archive and lived happily ever after. Well, almost happily. i don't like too small icons and too small font size here and there.

Had to say goodbye to my friend this morning, worst day in a pet owners life.  As much as I prepared myself for this, it still really takes a toll on you.

The other day, I desoldered the switches from my stainless JD40.  Today, I took the top and bottom plate to work and cleaned up the laser cut edges on the outside, got rid of the discoloration from the cutting process, and gave them a brushed finish with some 60 grit emery cloth.  Just have one face left on the bottom plate.  They look so much better.  I do have to say, that laser cut edge holds switches like a vise.
