Man I loved Pokemon as a kid!
Remember playing in bed under my duvet on my gameboy because I didn't want to get caught by my mom.
Had all the 3 birds, mewtwo and all the 3 starting pokemons at the highest lvl since I traded from my friends :D

Try playing it now on an emulator. It is still fun!

I love the pogeys. My faves, which are based solely and superficially on looks:

- Krabby
- Houndoom
- Gardevoir
- Sealeo (haha shush)
- all the Eevees

I got an email just today about shiny Dialgas up for grabs at the moment, Palkia and Giratina to come later. Aussies can get them now via a wonder card hotspot at EB Games. If you're in the US, I think the promo's been happening for a couple of weeks already.

I think I stopped playing Pokemon at Silver/Gold versions for the gameboy color lol. Charmander will always be my starter!

What I wish they would do is make an amazing Pokemon MMO for PC. I know there are PokeMMO ones out there that are fan based, but a legitimate 3D one would be friggin amazing!

I would hate it :P Don't like MMOs (eewww social interaction :P).

If I were you I'd try playing the newer ones on an emulator. They are quite fun still. :)

In my mid-twenties, married, job, but I still like the pokemon gameboy games.  Must have something to do with them coming out when I was in grade-school.

Wigglytuff has been my favorite pokemon for 15 years.

You must be confused; my Wigglytuff has always beaten Dragonite :-).

But honestly, I did see the new Fairy type when I happened to look into the new game coming out, and even if it is super-effective against dragon, Wigglytuff would still do more damage with Seismic Toss methinks considering its only good stat is HP.

But seismic toss only deals damage equals to the user level!

That's why it's so good for pokemon with lower attack stats, and especially defensive pokemon :-).  With two fully leveled-up pokemon facing each other, you're guaranteed 100 damage a hit regardless of the opponent's defense or your attack.  It also leaves you free to distribute your EVs to HP and Defense or Sp. Defense.

In the competitive battling circuit, I don't think I ever saw a Blissey that didn't have Seismic Toss or a Dusknoir without Night Shade, and I used to battle quite a bit when B/W came out.  Those things were a nightmare to take down.

Oh, I see. That's a really nice strat! I had never heard of it (but I never played competitively).

As the game itself is quite easy, my teams have only sweepers :P

Yeah.. I think you can beat pretty much all the games just by engorging your starter with all the exp. points and overpowering everything, lol.  The real fun to be had is in multiplayer.

It's been a long time since I've played, but we should have a battle sometime!  It would be fun digging out the DS.

Sure! But I don't know if I can, as I played them all on a R4. Will you get the new one?

Hrmm... not 100% sure on that one yet.  The new one would require a purchase of both the game and the new system, which seems like quite a bit for merely one game.  I'll let you know if I do though :-).

Every time I see footage of the new game it makes me hope that someone organizes and streams a competitive league on it, because it just seems like it would be a lot of fun to watch.

I believe there have been competitive leagues of pokemon, people literally bring their gameboys and play in a tournament style with a level cap of 50... I was watching it on twitch.tv at one point... i forgot what it was called =\

I always wanted the Pikachu edition. It came out last year but I was in UK. It was exp and region locked.  :(

Hate the region lock on 3DS, also UK sucks. Personally will look for a Fire emblem version >.>.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, apparently's there this dude who got his game WAY earlier than the launching date. He's been posting it on his instagram. Not too sure if it's legit or not but from the pics he posted it looks pretty darn real. lol.

Yes, it was somehow released early in Canada and Italy, and now pretty much all of the regular pokemon have been spoiled.

The only thing that remains are the rest of the mega evolutions and event legendaries I believe.  The source of the leak was forced to take the pictures down, but not before everyone got a hold of them it seems.
