Apologies Gon I just had a look at the housing and it's beautiful work, I was just looking for something more traditional like in the mockup. Your pcb sounds fantastic and as soon as the software is out I'm picking one of these out for my build. Will they be available on your website?

regards

Sure, you will be able to buy NerD PCBs separately soon. ;)
Even though I have made/assembled/tuned HUNDREDs of keyboards for others, I myself don't have a full-tuned Custom Keyboard now.

Any update on this? I haven't been asked for any additional payment yet.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Here I got the final version of GON NS NerD 60_ISO today.

59022-0

I think this housing will not fit a GH60 PCB because this housing fits PokerX(Not PokerX_II).
PokerX1 and 2 have slightly different USB connector position. And NerD60 has the same USB Connector position as PokerX_1.

You can assemble almost all kinds of layouts with this housing&PCB set, only if bottom left and bottom right keys(2 keys) are blocked.

One of the differences from (PokerX_2 and GH60) is, ESC and 1 keys have the same direction as all the other(except for ISO enter switch) switches. So, when you apply Full Backlit LEDs to this kbd, LEDs at the 1st row will make exact harmony. ;)

As I told you, you can easily tune both In-switch backlight LEDs and Side LEDs at the same time, for each kind of LEDs has their own dedicated position to be soldered on.

If there is no issue on this final version, I will proceed mass(?) production.

Thanks,
GON

Guys~

Your NerD 60% Happy Housings will come next week from CNC Machining Company.
I will check their quality and send them for blaster and anodizing.

I think I can finish this in 2 weeks.

So I will invoice you for your new PCBs. ;)

Hi guys,

I have invoiced you for NerD 60 PCBs fitting "NS NerD 60 Happy for GH"
(It was GH60 at the beginning... but it doesn't fit GH60. So... I think it would be better to change its name. lol~)

Plz check your paypal and make payment.

And the value of the shipment(US and some countries require the sender to declare the value of the shipment) will be about $40. ;)

Thanks,
GON

Some of you will not have yours in the picture... because their items could not pass my Q.C.
I re-ordered CNC Machining for more quality ones.

You will get yours soon.

Forgot to attacth the picture... lol...
NerD 60 Happy is not directly recognizable in the picture because they are already packed in shock absorb-er. ;)

Guys~ If you need proper SMD LEDs and Resistors or etc, you can order them at my site.
http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/others/14-ledssmd-50-pcs.html

The site will automatically calculate and impose shipping on you. But don't worry I don't think it will cost more shipping just because a few LEDs and resistors or small stuffs. I will give you a refund for extra shipping.

Thanks,
GON

well if he mass produces these again this ended up being ANSI OR ISO (See bunnylake's photo) the plate layout allows both though i think GON pre-programmed in ISO on the provided Nerd60 i got, i forgot, eventually there should be a UI like the GH60

I've spoken with him, he's accepting new orders. Refer to the OP for more info. I'm also happy to answer any questions.

This thread should probably be moved into GON's subform. (Its more like a small sale and so he can edit my posts.)

I just sent you a PM. I definitely don't want to miss this again. A few posts earlier it was mentioned that he pre-programs the ISO layout since the GUI isn't finished yet. Is it possible to have the ANSI layout preprogrammed instead? Also, does the PCB support through-hole LEDs on the switches?  I saw GON make reference to some SMD LEDs earlier, but I'm not sure if that is for internal case lighting or not.

I am sure GON will pre-program it for you, maybe for a small fee, if needed but there should be a way to program it soon, maybe even a UI, the ones from round 1 were ISO but the PCB supports a bunch of layouts, almost as many as the GH60

There is through hole LEDs ON the switches, so the actual backlighting is through hole BUT you have to solder in SMD Resistors to make them work

Additionally bottom leds, the ones that make the middle polycarb layer glow, those are SMD LEDs, and like the backlit LEDS they require their own SMD resistors as well.

Diodes are either SMD or through hole.

it is a lot of work, but its not impossible for newblies, SMD LEDS and Resistors you can easily do by running a flux pen across the solder points and pre-applying the solder to the PCB, then use tweezers to hold the resistors or diodes over the solder and use the other hand to run the soldering iron to heat the joint, its not a perfect method but it works even with my shaky hands and no complex soldering skills,

im actually thinking about taking a day off work just to build mine proper because i am too impatient to make mine over the course of several days.

---

Although i haven't built my ANSI/ISO HHKB GON NS Nerd60 (whoo what a name!) yet, i just wanted to say that GON is excellent to do business with and his english is fantastic; not sure if he uses a translator but he understands everything you're saying.

Thanks Cody and GON!

Thank Glod for giving a bunch of explanation on NerD 60 PCB and GON NS NerD Housing. ;)

I don't use any translator, because as you might know English and Korean have totally different syntactic structures, which imposes too much burden on automatic/computerized translation. Such a translator often distorts original meaning/intention.

My English is not perfect. I, sometimes, do make mistakes. ;)
If I had any chance to stay in an English speaking country for about a year or so, I would speak still better English. lol~
So... If I upset you with my clumsy English, it is not because I intend to do so but because I'm not a native English speaker.

I will consider making a Ergo layout board someday. But as for now, I have to concentrate on NerDy GUI. ;)
When the GUI is finished, I promise I will make various layouts. ;)
Even though I have made/assembled/tuned HUNDREDs of keyboards for others, I myself don't have a full-tuned Custom Keyboard now.
So Ironical!

My English is not perfect. I, sometimes, do make mistakes. ;)
If I had any chance to stay in an English speaking country for about a year or so, I would speak still better English. lol~
So... If I upset you with my clumsy English, it is not because I intend to do so but because I'm not a native English speaker.

You still type better English than what I attempt to do each day here on GH  8) .   Hence never feel bad about your use of English here when it compares favourably to many here already.

GON, your english is more than sufficient for anyone to understand. No need to ever apologize! This GB is so tempting, if I didn't already own your 38GT, I'd be all over this. But right now i'm at a dilemma lol.

I spoke with Cody through PM who has been very helpful.  He just informed me that GON has setup a page to buy this board on his website and provided me the links.  I just have a few more questions before I place the order.  I'm plan to have GON solder the case LEDs, diodes, and resistors (for the glow affect), but I can solder everything else myself.  For the switch LEDs, will I need to purchase through hole diodes and through hole resistors?  I already have LEDs, so I won't need those, but I'm not entirely sure about the resistors and diodes.  I see both through hole and SMD are available for purchase on GON's website, but I suspect that the SMD are specifically for the case LEDs.

You can solder DIP(I recommend DIP for NerDs) diodes on the NerD PCB.
But resistors should be SMDs -- 2012(MM) size.

Cheers,
GON
Even though I have made/assembled/tuned HUNDREDs of keyboards for others, I myself don't have a full-tuned Custom Keyboard now.
So Ironical!
