IS it too late to get in on some of these leftovers? I know the deadline is earlier, but the Wikki was just updated today.

I guess it doesn't hurt to ask?

There is still the leftovers sale.  Get em while they last: http://deskthority.net/wiki/R5_leftovers

If you only want to fill your ANSI Filco, there may be no need for gigantic hundreds-of-kits groupbuys like 7bit's. But if you want to get to the more special stuff, big and long-running is definitely beautiful, and 7bit is the unchallenged master of that.

As 7bit stated in the thread, the current deadline is totally meaningless. And it's not the first at that.

The order has been placed with SP though, right?  That means that they are being or will shortly be produced and en route to 7bit.  So there is now a real limit on what you can order and when.

I'm not sure 7bit has given a clear answer to that question.

I just asked him to clarify the production situation on DT:

There are plenty of noobs and regretful non-participants that are hungry for sets and posting in the DT thread.  Probably a lot of folks around here as well.

I hear that...  I between this GB and the others here on GH, I have purchased enough SA for 4 keyboards.  I also got the DSA Granite set and the GMK Dolch set...  WHAT AM I DOING???  I have lots of build projects and they will need caps, but still, I think I may have been a bit excessive...

Once you get bitten with SA you can't leave it alone ever  :thumb: .  Going back to DCS or even DSA is a crime in itself, because the absolute BEST profile ever made by SP is this.  I know I've made a few DCS fanatics sad and alone with their anguish for ever buying that profile but I'm afraid that's how the ball bounces here on Geekhack.

SA is simply the BEST available from SP, enough said  ^-^ .

Wow - Elrick and I agree on something!  ;D
Model M Industrial, SSK, Unicomp 104, Code TKL MX Green, FC660M MX Green + Clear + White + Grey, FC660C Topre 45g, MagicForce 68 USB and Bluetooth, Whitefox, some optical switch 65% Bluetooth split spacebar thing ... wait, I think I need an intervention. Too late, there’s a couple of new Model Fs on the way.
Too much SA is never enough.

Believe it or not, but SP is still struggling with Round 5 production. Earliest expected delivery date will be around end of October.

Nevertheless, I started Round 5a some days ago!

Yes, it is the same group buy. To block shipping of your Round 5 order (kits that start with "HONEY/" or "SPH/") just order the HONEYB kit (for free!!!)

Round 5a does not delay Round 5. In fact it is a separate order, but sold through the same group buy system.

As much as I'd love ones with text on them, I know that everyone's going to have a different idea of what should be on them. It seems like the Granite ErgoDox pack hit the 90% case for most people, though. But in place of modifiers like that I'd totally be up for some blank 1-4 row-matched 1.5u modifiers, some row 3 1u blanks, and some row 3 2u blanks.

A violet/cream and blue/gray ErgoDox would totally be in my future. :)

I just went through the R5 offerings and I think that bringing back the blank ERGOBASE sets in the various R5a colors would be awesome. I'd definitely be in for a few sets of those.

I'm already signed up for R5a, but any combination of legended keys from the Granite Ergodoxian kit would be an instant buy for me.  If we had an option to buy additional, individual blanks too, all the better.  :)

This is the set as it was last run on Massdrop:

And this was sort of a "dream" mock-up I did for another interest check:

You'd have to trim some keys from that to get it to an attractive price point.

Key caps are indeed still in production. SP is not that fast and it seems they stop production whenever there is a new small group buy started.
It is like a freight train that has to stop and wait for every other train.

This is doable. Most keys exist in other kits already.

We already have vertical ENTER and the vertical blank.
The 1.5 units keys:
SHIFT and TAB exist and ENTER, DELETE and ESCAPE would be useful to others.
Exclusive to this would be the other 1.5 units keys. Same for vertical SHIFT, DEL, BACK SPACE and FN.

Because the Ergodox comes wiuth the ability to mount the switches ad  1 unit keys instead of 1.5, there should be no urgent need to add expensive 1.5 units keys of things like ?/ {[ and }].

I will make an ERGOMOD/RED kit that contains these keys:
vertical 2 units:
SHIFT
DEL
BACK,SPACE
FN or FUN
ENTER

vertical 1.5 units keys:
FN
FN

maybe something else?

I will add a kit with 1.5 units square, triangle, circle and diamond keys, that might be useful.

I've been trying to find an answer for this without having much luck. Since ErgoDox kits are a niche kit for an already niche product, they aren't exactly a huge volume seller. What happens if we build a complete set around one of these kits and the kit doesn't reach MOQ? Are we able to back out? Or are we committed to buying an incomplete set?

This worries me because Pulse, which is fairly popular, has fewer than 13 Halfadox kits committed with only the one color choice. If there's a MOQ on the ErgoDox sets in Round 5a, I'm not sure there's going to be enough demand since it looks like there are going to be legended/non-legended choices spread out among 6 different color choices.
