There are no words to describe how awesome this thing is.  If you're looking at these thinking, "man, those look too nice to be true, there has to be something wrong with them... like, maybe their are too light, or the leather is too hard, or they aren't comfortable, etc. etc."... banish the thought from your head.  These are exactly what you think they are.  Gorgeous, nice and heavy, soft and comfortable.  Everything.

I'll be posting pics tomorrow.

Thanks everyone :)

If anyone is jealous of glod's Saddle Tan ErgoDox setup:  I had made another set of the same style I got around to finishing up today, I've put it up for sale on the site.
Fixed some stuff up on the site too.

Once it comes in the mail there will be plenty of pictures with the new rests and ergodox case from intelli78. That is I will take these pictures after deep clean my daily driver edox (typing for more than 10 hours a day makes any keyboard a little messy).  It'll be sure to amaze :)

Have just filled out a Custom Build Form on your website Noko, requesting you to build me a TKL wrist rest out of Crocodile Skin.

If you are having difficulty in getting any authentic Crocodile skin then please use Snake Skin from any large Python, which are beautiful to touch.

Please let me know if you can do it  :thumb: .

Noko has already posted that she plans only to use leather for all of her work both for personal reasons and to avoid issues with Canadian customs. I believe she does have a few samples of crocodile skin textured leather though that you may be able to get a rest made from.

Wow it actually arrived overnight!  Awesome!  I love the bird pics.
It's a little lower than your other ones I think, I had to allow for the bottom stiffener and didn't want to overstuff it, so let me know how that is.  And, the baseball stitching will hopefully grip the bottom of the keyboard a bit and help with sliding.

Now I get to go back through my camera and post the in-progress build pics too.  There's a really meta one of cutting a cutting board on a cutting board.

I'll reply via email as well in case you don't see this post--but that rest I made for Tarzan was indeed faux crocodile, it's a print on the normal veg tan leather that I can mould into shape.  I can only use this kind of leather in my process, so other hides aren't an option, but if you're still interested I think the fake turns out very awesome looking too.

Cut-ception :o  I like it!

The height of this is actually really great.  The ergodox I plan to put on this is going to have a more form fitting case, and will be less thick than the standard massdrop layered version.  I think for use with my current edox I would want the pads to be taller, but in this case it is perfect :)  The leather makes a great anti-slip surface for the keyboard.

And I don't want to forget about Sherwood, he got a Penumbra-inspired ErgoDox pair in the mail today too, it was really hard to get the colour balance right but that was kind of the point of the contrasting stitching I think :)

That's fine only for a second I was surprised that it might be actual crocodile skin.  I'm fine with it looking like an animal textured skin, also if you can make cow leather into a snake skin finish would be nice, I would then buy 2 TKL wrist rests from you.

I would want one to be totally black in colour and the second one done in a metallic grey sheen (if you could do that with colours applied).

Very interested and can pay you as soon as you want.  Just make the wrist rest very firm and strong so that a wide variance in temps wouldn't deform it in any way.

I've got an old TKL Filco Wrist Rest in which the the bottom part came away due to their use of cheap-arse glue.  Fixed it by using a polyurethane type of glue that is still firmly attached after 3 years of use.

Not whinging about your skills as a leather worker but if you need more money to make this upcoming wrist rest unbreakable, then please don't hesitate to charge me for it  :thumb: .

Very excited to receive one of your TKL wrist rests, which I've seen from the photos you've provided are quite decent looking and solid compared to most that are sold out there.

Oh I meant to post some news, before I forget:

I am first in queue at the laser cutter to have mouse rest and Leopold FC660 moulds and parts made.  They're a family-owned shop, and they're all on holiday and can't deliver till the week of the 18th.

I myself am leaving for a short trip home to the parents on the 19th, but I'll be online and able to work on design stuff during that period (until the 29th).  Honestly I'll probably bring myself mats to work on too, like CPTBadAss's stuff.  My mom might even help out  :thumb:

I'm aiming to finish and ship all those orders currently in process before I leave.  (Unless I'm holding off on yours for the moment, in which case you know who you are :) )

awesome! would you be able to do an angled rest? ;D

Hmm, not sure what you mean by angled.  Something like a right triangle for typing with a slightly-rotated keyboard?

he probably meant something like the filco wrist rest (the one on the right)

Haha, well, that makes a lot more sense.

If just the incline is the important thing, I include two different heights of optional stick-on feet so you could put them on one side only (actually, I'll test this out once I get home and see what it looks like).

If you wanted to make it like the Filco one, with that step-like bump, it could be done but it would require a fair amount of redesign--I'd certainly want to work on getting ErgoDox rests designed before moving on to something like that.

Hi Noko! Just wondering if you're east coast or west coast! I'm from Vancouver.

I also want to express my interest in a step-bump wrist rest like the Filco one. Do you have any plans to design something like it?

Thanks

I live in Toronto, have some friends and family in Van though.  Later down along the line of cool prototypes I want to make is a 3D wedge form (CNC routed I guess?) for tented ergodoxes and AcidFire's upcoming ergo board, so that would be a similar principle.

Sorry about the delay.  Invoice is paid

No problem at all.  Doing test carvings today.

Light is too crappy for the moment, sorry guys :(

I gotta leave for my flight at 9 AM tomorrow but I want to get a couple of shots of Xaero's at least tomorrow AM beforehand when I polish it up.
My awesome husband Crasis will take care of shipping, and work on some prep and dyeing during my absence to keep things moving along :)

And, I'm taking along my camera card to work through a lot of pictures I have saved up to put in my build log thread, both of in progress stuff and things like Binge's piece that I've not had the chance to write up yet.  Gives me something to do on the plane!
