Yeah maybe your right.. idk I just thought it was a little much them being in the media section posted along side real CC's...

maybe delete the images but not ban him.
im 99% sure others have fake clacks or other bootleg/questionable items that they own.
doesn't make them a bad person or anything imo.

I think it makes them a bad person if they are openly buying/trying to buy fakes and then posting pics of said fakes in the CC pic thread :P

It is. Reason for the first ban should have been the advertising of counterfeit products and major trolling or similar ****. Moderating done right this time.

You're now getting banned for the multiple accounts. There is no reason to keep creating accounts. If you wanted to be a part of this community, you should have read the ToS.

Ideally the purpose of this thread would be to alert people to the existence of the fakes, so that we know which ones to avoid, and potentially which sellers to avoid if they show themselves to have a track record of selling fakes.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That's a very good idea. But I think this won't work if it's scattered across the many pages of this thread. Either the OP has to be updated or a new specific "fake clack info thread" with the mentioned information has to be made.

My 2 cents as a newer member around here (who I think this thread best serves, people new to the community): it doesn't serve that function very well in the "off topic" forum. I only recently this week or so even started reading this forum. It might be better located in either the artisan forum or the keycap forum to improve visibility to visitors or new members.

Separately, people should probably get less heated. Feeding the egos of the counterfeit cap makers and bringing race into the argument doesn't bode well for this place as a community. Additionally, everyone's frustrated, but alienating members for playing the devil's advocate and having opposing views is only going to make the situation worse.

Exactly..

PS If you are thinking of entering both sales, remember that the others are not MADE by clack. So what is the point of owning one? Because it LOOKS like clacks work? If my candy corn wasnt MADE by him, I would lose any interest in it and take it off my board.. Fake clacks are so ****ing stupid...

Additionally it is just not something you want to promote. Think about the long term effects of buying these and what it can do to people who make artisan keycaps. If their work would simply get copied every single time they make something people like, and those imitations sell well, then that leaves them with very little incentive to put any effort into making new things. That is not what you want to have happen. Not to mention how unfair it is to just make a mold of something someone else made, and replicate it.

Good thought. I think you have to compare clacks with paintings. A lot of famous paintings have been replicated just to sell them at an affordable price point and you canīt really stop it. I think the best idea for clackfactory is to make some signature signs to know if your clack is authentic or not, but not tell the signs publicly!
Very busy with studies atm.

Some analysis:

The site is built with wordpress with some kind of shopping addon theme, and the entire site's URL structures follows the so called RESTful API structure. basically means that the urls are "pretty" and so can be "guessed", so you can access pages directly through url if you guessed it correctly(this is not "safe" but makes developing for mobile and web browser at the same time easier because both platforms can essentially just make the same API requests.), for example if you want to access their shop just do baseurl/shop, the url structure behaves very good and it is very easy to guess what pages should have what url.

I think the fake clack maker is not very good with computer so they chose some wordpress shopping theme that could not handle time sensitive sales. For example just by guessing the URL, some users were able to access some restricted pages that should not have been turned on to begin with.

I did some digging through the URL structure, even before the sale, it was apparent that some users realized that they could access pages that's not supposed to be turned on: http://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/2ev30u/upcoming_keycap_sale/ck3y5i3

But the most interesting part of the website is the "news" sectioned. It is completely native wordpress. You can even register with the wordpress blog backend. Meaning that the fake clack makers either are amateurs or rushed their website job, that they forgot to turn off wordpress's native registration... If you've used wordpress extensively before, you know this means that you might be able to see the backend of the website... So I registered an account and what do I see? Their complete shop statistics on how many purchases there were.

SO, if you are wondering how much this did sell? Go to their news section and register an account with them.
For science. I'm not going to list the exact numbers, go see for yourself. But the number of orders and the total sales(dollar amount I assume) checks out to be about 2 fake clacks per order on average.

+1 on this, deff accurate info. The biggest problem I would have is not with these caps by themselves. It is with people who will buy them and try to pass them off as real Clacks and rip someone off. If I was a buyer, I would be wary of whats under the cap and whether or not it is photo-shopped.

For those that did register to the wordpress backend. I think the k3kc just removed the direct login button on their news section.

But because the URL structure is still RESTful structure, you can still guess and access the admin section by just doing this:

http://www.k3kc.com/wp-admin/

or

http://www.k3kc.com/admin/
