Lubing Topre Switches
« on: Sat, 21 December 2013, 23:22:48 »
Who here has done it? What type of lube does one use (Krytox mix?)? How exactly does it affect the feel, sound, experience? Where exactly do you lube? I've heard some people talking about it but I haven't been able to find any info on it in other threads.

Thanks for the picture hasu!
@terran I believe I heard in another thread that they're pre-lubed with some sort of silicone mixture...
I was wondering how lubing with krytox/other mixes changes the feel. Hasu, or anyone else who's done the mod, a description of the change in feel would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome picture! I plan to lube (maybe dental band mod) my hhkb in the future and I'm glad this picture exists!

Yeah, it is natural Keyboard has resistance and Alps, Cherry and Topre are smooth enough.
Paranoids only need lub but GHers all are paranoids!

Topres are naturally pretty smooth, but cherries can be pretty scratchy without lube...I think cherry switches especially can benefit from lube (idk about Alps--never used 'em)

So...it just makes them smoother? Does it affect the feel otherwise (tactility, heaviness) at all?
