I have one in my grabbag (right in between the Win and the Shamrock). Because it's translucent and SA is pretty thick, the plastic it doesn't look right. The edges bleed giving it a messy look.

Sorry bud from the pic you provided it looks clearly like a DCS, the standard profile from SP.

Just take a pic showing the sides then you'll know if it's SA because that baby will be quite large compared to any other SP profile.  Never show pics from above because all the profiles look similar, until you see them side ways.

More testing. Please let me know if you spot any errors

Show Image

please note there are no custom legends! The few novelty keys are all already available legends. The spacebars are x2 just as place holder. I will add spacebars in other sizes

PS: I don't remember if 2u backspace is available in row1. I have to check

Would be great if you can add the 1x1 modifier keys into the ergodox kit and also a 1800 layout kit, but I guess it's fine the way it is.

Nice work, though, and thanks for keeping my dreams of finally having a coherent SA set possible.

In addition to the blank Ergodox set would it be possible to get a labeled set similar to what you did for the Granite Ergodoxian?

Actually I feel that it's better to get the ergodoxian mods in blanks. Looking back into my old Granite order, I'm only using around 4-5 labelled keys, and now I need to get me some blanks from SP.

It's not going to make or break my interest in the set (which is very much made), but I'd definitely get a set even if some of the legends were in the wrong orientation.

I agree. I'd pick up a set even if the legends weren't in the right orientation. On top of that I'd also pick up a set of the blank Ergodox caps too.

1.5x - shift, ctrl, tab, backquote (`~), backspace, forward slash (|\), another shift and enter, vertical FN, vertical capslock, and two more vertical FN.

2x - space, enter, shift, space

1x - fn, win, alt, app/meta, ctrl

I thought the Granite Ergodoxian kit was great. The only key I thought was missing was a 2x Backspace, which I pulled it from the Granite Text Pro Modifiers kit (in this case it would be the Midnight alpha kit). Here's what I personally use. I think having some extra blanks would be great, just in case.

In addition to what other people have listed, I'd also really like:

1.5x '/"
1.5x -/_
1.5x +/=
1.5x [/{
1.5x ]/}

2x backspace
2x delete

Thanks!

Everything from Granite Ergodoxian should be sufficient.

If I were to add anything:
  • 2x Alt (perhaps 2 of these?)
  • 1x Ctrl (2 again?)
  • 1.5x Home
  • 1.5x End
  • 1.5x Pg Up
  • 1.5x Pg Dn
  • 1.5x Tab
... Unless any of these might appear in a Tsangan or Alt Mods kit.

You mentioned the legends being the wrong orientation, is that because these are Cherry replica?

SA doesn't have cherry font. this would be with standard SP font.

the wrong orientation is because this is 2-shot (and not sublimated).

no polycarb. SP discourages SA+PC. I might add glow in the dark though.

I guess that makes sense about the PC. The glow in the dark was one of the reasons i was keen on the Midnight set. Thank you for considering that option Matt3o.

Others have already listed every key I could possibly want in the ergodoxian set. But, you could always add a 2x E key and claim to be the first group buy ever to fully support the Malt layout :P

The set was originally going to be SA but was switched to DCS as a result of a vote. However, it looked like the DCS version wasn't going to tip and Matt3o decided to bring the idea back to its roots and start over with SA. Then the DCS version tipped thanks to some divine intervention, but the SA hype train kept on rolling. So now it's looking like we get to have both.

I already suggested something like this few pages ago, but it didn't receive much love. Now I see that even Filco chose this profile for its high profile set, so I wish to push it back to your attention.

I'm probably headed towards the uniform profile (SA row 3) style since it'll be rotated between my TKL/Lightsaver/Ergodox.

Nonetheless, it is an intriguing idea. I've never used SA profiles extensively except what can in my grab bags.

considering that the slanted rows are just the f-row and the #-row that shouldn't be a big issue. All alphas would be still on row 3.

I have a Filco set (2 actually), and it's not a terrible compromise. But it feels like it could use more "sculpting." Personally, I would go for 3-1-2-3-4-3 profiles from top down. I just wish SP would get off their asses and make Row 4 shift keys.

I'm not buying Nuclear Data, specifically because it's all-row-3. And I wouldn't buy this one either, in that scenario.

My current plan is to get a row 3 set for an Ergodox and a mixed set for use on a 60% board. I won't lie though--the mismatched shift keys would bother the hell out of me. :)

It should work just fine with an Ergodox since all the alphas would be R3. All the modifiers are either 1.5x or 2x and would also come in R3. The only issue I can see is if you decided to use the ESC somewhere or decided to put the function keys along the bottom row of the Ergodox.

Do you mean only offering a single profile, or just changing the slanted option to only be fn+numrow?

If the latter idgaf, but the former would break compatibility with dvorak by changing the slant on "?/" and "=+" which are qwerty row vs "[{" and "]}" which become numrow.

I seem to be the only one who keeps poking for that though :(

I don't *think* colemak swaps anything around on the numrow, but I don't use it so I could be wrong.

Wouldn't ergodox have the same issue?

I assume you mean that you'd still offer all of the following from your latest image:
1 - Midnight SA Common Kit (ALL ROW 3)
2 - Midnight SA All Row 3 Kit
3 - Midnight SA Variable Rows Kit

but that the Midnight SA Variable Rows Kit would have the profile that you posted most recently.

Is that correct?

FWIW my preference and intention is to buy All Row 3, but (wallet winces) I reckon I'd be mighty tempted to also add the Variable Rows Kit for variety and 'just in case'.
Model M Industrial, SSK, Unicomp 104, Code TKL MX Green, FC660M MX Green + Clear + White + Grey, FC660C Topre 45g, MagicForce 68 USB and Bluetooth, Whitefox, some optical switch 65% Bluetooth split spacebar thing ... wait, I think I need an intervention. Too late, there’s a couple of new Model Fs on the way.
Too much SA is never enough.

Definitely need all Row3 for weird Cherry keyboard setups like the 1800 series.

Also having an option of a full variable row set would be purchased for the standard 87 or 104 keyboard.  Why not offer both so that everyone has a choice or goes for both in the final buy up?

Shall get both due to having keyboards that need them so desperately  :thumb: .

Just offer it because the vast amount of people here know who and what you are Matt3o, the DESIGNER of unique key-sets that everyone wants a piece of  :thumb: .

I agree Oobly. With the Nuclear GB, I'm gonna need a contoured SA set and this would be prefect.
