Best keycap ever.

I would like to see more keycaps with this impression.

95-98 FTW.
Nah, I used w7 obviously. But that logo is badass.

Much nicer than the ones Unicomp sells, although they will do theirs in colors.

Lilac or bright white go particularly well with a pearl/pebble set.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

Is there any reason that Ivan's windows key is a different orientation [slightly diagonal] compared to OP? [I am too young lol]

3.0 and Win 2000 Pro used the same logo too. That inclination is from Win '98 I think, they tilted it for some reason. I actually really like the XP/Win7 logo the best though, so much better than the depressingly boring Win8 logo. I get it, windows aren't wavy, but man the current logo is just uninspired ****.

We could go all the way back...

Windows 1.0.

Seems the logo on the dyesub set belongs to Windows 95/98.

Windows 8 and 1.0 logos are almost the same. Windows 8 sucks, in every aspect. And one big aspect is it's "modern", shiny 2d design. What about the cool 4 dimension logos that merged you in a oculus rift-like experience?

The Windows key was introduced for Windows. Some other OS adopted use of it but there is not any real consistency of what it does so there is no universal other icon for it. I suppose the closest major other marking would likely be the Unix diamond icon.

I use my computers for all sort of thing. It isn't really relevant. Windows is Windows for the most part.

i see a lot of ppl bashing up Windows 8 as though it is the worse invention ever lol!
i'm honestly, really curious, what makes windows 8 so horrible to u?
seeing the question you asked in the later part, i suppose it causes complications towards some programming applications or something else that you are currently using?

(and i do prefer the somewhat minimalistic logo of windows 8  :)) )

The GUI is just for tablets. Not suitable for a non-touch screen regular desktop PC.

I don't do a lot of programming, only amateur CSS. But I use editing software a lot (PS, Sound Forge, SONAR, FL Studio, etc) and its just more comfy on W7.

Also, I tweaked the w7 registry a lot to match my needings, so many 'fixes' aren't available on Windows 8.

The problem is mostly the GUI, anyways.

All GUI's have major flaws. Can't blame them for trying.

It's hard to match the simplicity of a text-only interface.

I must be in the minority, seeing that old windows logo annoys the hell out of me.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

At first I didn't like the W8 logo, but after having it on these keycaps, it's grown on me. Quite like the simplicity.

Has anyone ever made a keycap with the W8 logo with RGBY?

i really can't stand retro stuff, but the colored one from ivan is pretty spiffy.

is it significantly more expensive? i would really like to see it around moe often.  although i guess the popularity of ds abs kinda means that it will be rare.

For dyesubs, more color make zero difference. I did ask to GMK about multi color which they can do on pad printing... mad expensive. Due to limitation, each color have to be done in separate process, and set up for each time. Lot of labor fee.

There is always lot of different preference about Window key and what version logo or some alternative should be there... I keep thinking about different ways to solve this dilemma on future sets.

I asked about doing only PBT Cherry 1.25 modifier for alternate Windows key design... need 1000 key moq for single keys from the KBC. I am not sure about PLUM yet but I hope to find out soon. If it's reasonable maybe we can make it happen.

Maybe we could start a "Super" Interest check and maybe get a "Super" key groupbuy. I don't know how much you need as minimum to start production of keys with a certain logo but if we could start a pool with multiple logo choices and define a required minimum to start production maybe we could make that happen.

  • Use the multiple windows logo in the above image,
  • Unix diamond as well
  • Old Mac OS 9 logo and newer Mac OSX logos also
  • Linux Tux and logos by distributions (i would get some Arch and Debian keys of course)
  • Amiga as well since WASD proposes them.

Make them PBT (Cause why get silly subpar ABS) and multiple color available, and front-side print available as well. Now you'll have many, many orders.

EDIT : At that point add the whole card suit set (hearts spades clover diamonds) as well, in red or in black, boost the sales cause obviously anyone that doesn't currently have a set of suits modifiers must get one.

I love the rainbow Apple logo!

On a universal PC keyboard, though I would much prefer a "Super" key to any Windows logo. I am primarily a Windows user, but I don't much care for having a branded key from some other company on a peripheral that has nothing to do with said company.

Besides, who wouldn't mind having a key that says "Super" on their Super-ior mechanical keyboard  ;)
