If not, it's just another example of how companies treat consumers like they are mindless sheep, turning them into mindless sheep, requiring them to treat them like mindless sheep... Yeah, it's a "chicken-egg situation." 
Are you sure? Don't you want a space age filing cabinet with a rollout shelf that might provide an extra seat for support staff during a last-minute meeting with execs of a company who are interested in a multi-million-dollar merger with yours? For idealists, maybe that day has already come or will soon, and this is simply the sign of the inferior product!
On the other hand, it could just be a sign that the keyboard does not support n-key rollover, which could be proven quickly and easily by sitting on it (probably tested in full, as a matter of fact. I always advocated fists for the test, but getting cheeky is clearly superior.)
