Parquet flooring - is it warm(ish) in winter?

PC LOAD LETTER - PC = paper cassette, it wants you to load letter-sized paper.  We had two of those at work, fantastic work-horses!

He he, I know  ;D    I was quoting the movie "Office Space" where the printers shows "PC LOAD LETTER" and the user gets angry:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QQdNbvSGok

Regarding parquet flooring: it's a bit of a special building anyway for there are no radiators at all. The heating is entirely "inside" the floors. It's not that uncommon around here but it's definitely not the most common either. So with the heat coming from the floor, it's warm everywhere: even in the entrance where the marble is warm (!)

I like both parquet and carpet that said  :))

Ah, fair enough, thanks.  We've moved nearly a year ago now from a place with carpets to a place with polished floor boards, and the boards are just so much colder.

Under floor heating would be nice :)

Just finished my little DIY project for the day. I mounted a headphone and microphone jack from the bottom of my desk using a peice of aluminium angle. I've almost reached the visible-cable-free nirvana! It's just the mouse and keyboard cable left on the top of my desk. I'll get around to posting the full setup eventually it's just really messy at the moment.

Take 2. Now with 100% less electrical interference!...

Not as happy with how these two turned out, though I was rushing to do them once I realized the first one wasn't going to work :(

I might redo them later maybe, but for now they'll do just fine.

I notice a lot of people on here have massive mouse pads, what's the advantage?

I have a large mousepad and it lets me put both my HHKB and mouse on it with room to spare. Helps make everything quieter and is softer than hard wood when resting your hands.

The one on the left is a SS 4HD, which isn't really big., although I still use only a small part of it (high sensitivity).

The big one is a Corsair MM200XL, it's cloth with a thick rubber base. I keep it under my keyboard, because it dampens resonantions in the keyboard case/tray and it's nice to touch, when I'm resting my hands on the tray (while not typing, of course).

Hm, that does make sense, I guess i've just never thought about it. My mousepad is very small, maybe like 8 inches by 8 inches

That's really great. I didn't know that they were doing that. Appears to be less expensive than the Geek Desk, which is fantastic.

This was my old BS about a 18 months ago, before I bought my KC84 (holy ****, it's only been 18 months and I've bought 5 boards).

Yes the screen was far too big to be practical, but it was awesome to watch streams and TV shows. But it did give me a headache.

Haha, I know there are people with more sets than this.  :P  They just don't post pictures.  And I hadn't until now, so I can't blame em.

As a disclaimer, this isn't counting any of the sets on my keyboards, which is a few.

Was bored.  Decided to actually pull all of my keycaps out of the boxes and see how many I really have.

It's so quiet in our office right now that the only things I can hear are mouse clicks and the clock in the opposite side of the office ticking...I don't think it's been this quiet all summer.

Take 2. Now with 100% less electrical interference!...

Not as happy with how these two turned out, though I was rushing to do them once I realized the first one wasn't going to work :(

I might redo them later maybe, but for now they'll do just fine.

That's a great idea. As I work to reduce cable clutter by routing cables in a smarter fashion (I don't really believe in wireless when I can help it, honestly), this is something that I would want to probably do. Any special details? And why did you have to rejigger it to avoid interference?

Nothing special about it really. I just found a couple of 3.5mm extension cables with panel mounts on eBay and got a piece of aluminium angle from the nearest hardware store. Drilled a few holes and screwed it into my desk. Having used it like this for a few weeks now I'm really enjoying not having the cable running all the way across my desk.

The reason I had to have them separate rather than one piece was that I was getting some crazy interference noise on the microphone and headphones when I had both the cables plugged in on the computer end. The aluminium was bridging the two cables. I could probably do it as one piece if I insulated the panel mounts from the aluminium with something but that seemed like too much work honestly.

Really cheap and effective though so I do recommend it. It's also quite sturdy and doesn't flex at all when plugging or unplugging cables.
