It can be done though without much backlash as you build up a reputation. Ivan has a $3? group buy fee for his group buys - people trust him, and he is one of the few people who does group buys with GMK, so he's got that going with him.

Nah, you don't even need a reputation to sell crap. Geeks are irrational when something is rare. Just list Kishsaver, $300 or Model M SSK industrial $500 with a blurry photo of one rusty, filthy keyboard with missing keycaps, and you can probably sell to 10 different people all rushing to pay with paypal gift. Moreover everyone will be respectful and give you plenty of time to send.

When something has no snob appeal, such as Tai Hao products which are of satisfactory good value but not super duper quality, suddenly everyone's a critic and Harry taking a weekend off is probably enough to make some newb file paypal claim saying seller has vanished.

Majority here would agree BUT you'll get that particular type of ARSEHOLE who thinks that the keys be delivered FREE to their doorstep and when he finds out he has to pay for shipping as well, goes berserk and starts ripping shreds off the Group Buy organizer.  It has happened in the past so I suspect that will never change for the future as well.  You can't have all people being generous and nice because you shall get that odd nasty piece of sh1t, masquerading as a so-called "geekhacker", striving to bring down the Group Buy for whatever lame reason.

That is why I suspect no Group Buy organizer wants to ask for extra money, just to avoid that special tight-arse scumbag, looking to get something for free.  You've got them here and there's nothing that can be done about it.

Why can't group buy organizers just cut out the complainers from the gb? Just post the rules up front that the total fee includes shipping and a small handling fee with a deadline so whiners have nothing to complain about. IMO gb's should always have a deadline with or without the handling fee which would things smoother at least on the collections side.

Or maybe stick them on a whingers list so future gb organizers have a ready list of members to avoid dealing with. I wouldn't want any organizer to have to deal with a paypal chargeback.

If I didn't already 'not need' this group buy (since I am only using 1x1 keys Matrix layout now, but bought 4 sets with add ons anyway to help), I would have been happy to help buy a few extra add on packs. Guys, if any of you think you might use a different layout in future, why not message Harry and buy a few add on packs off him? The price is good, lets keep it that way and keep the Tai Hao group buys running smoothly! I don't want Harry's pocket to get hurt like this!

Happened to me, Bought just regular sets and then bought a tt poseidon that uses tsangan, harry was able to sell two addons to me! He absolutely deserve all the props doing this GB!

Seriously, your photo taking is such that the set actually looks better on your Filco than when it appeared in Harry's original. I almost want to buy more and maybe put up with the uneven look when placed on a matrix keyboard.
