Welcome to Geekhack!

You might get lucky.

IOf not, keep an eye on Classifieds - sometimes people receive them, and straight away sell them for various reasons.

Alternatively I believe you can buy these from some vendors in some countries off the shelf, as it were.

has there been an update as far as getting the new caps from taiho of the right color?

I know these things take time... but Considering just ordering a set off massdrop since they are on their 2nd buy of the set and ship faster.

Happens every time... people drop out between the initial rush and when invoicing starts, then others want to jump in at the end.

Order early in the next round people so that we meet MOQ's more easily!!

Before you do what I did and waste over $1000, spend a couple hundred bucks trying out different switch types and key profiles, THEN go balls to the wall.
I  went nuts right off the bat and ended up having to resell half my collection 6 months later.

I grabbed a bunch of thin ABS sets :-X [mostly DCS], some OEM PBT, a couple thin PBT, and a variety of novelty keys from existing shops and a bunch of keyboards.
I've since sworn off thin ABS entire, DCS entirely, OEM profile entirely and have basically decided only on bulkier keyboards, with at least a plate. [my exception to this is Smallfry, and Gon]
I actually only use custom keyboards now, but that's mostly a looks thing, not feel.

About the next round:

Opinion poll has shown Sakura, Orange, and Azure are the most popular.

But probably we can't do Azure because it's a customised colour by Originative, um...

I'd like to do three colours in the next round just like this time.

Azure being a custom color from Sherry is a little bummer, but luckily enough there are enough other choices :)

Should we cover in this GB 3 solid colors only Orange, Sakura and the next highest % solid color set,and then next GB we can maybe do the popular 2 tone, white/red, white/blue, white/green, or maybe the ole traditional classic 2 tone color, its same as the olivette but black legends. Just thinking out loud :)

Edit: Not sure if it would make sense to run Sakura and purple together, they are similar correct?  but if Purple is easier to reach MOQ, maybe we should consider running the purple instead of the Sakura.

No need for any more DCS.

Tai Hao isn't DCS profile. It's OEM profile. DCS is a specific profile from Signature Plastics that is meant to be similar to Cherry profile.

I don't think people realise how much effort goes into this, until you post pictures like that :o

Nobody knows the HUGE effort involved in sorting, packaging and posting key-sets to everyone around the globe.  Since poor Harry is doing it on his own and is not paid to do it in the first place.

People all think that all these Group Buys are covered by cost when it comes to sorting and packing (might be with PMK only) but outside PMK, it's not.

Hence thanks for giving us all a glimpse of how much misery you have to put up with when sending out everyone's orders  :thumb: .

I appreciate everyone that works I GBs. It's a lot of work for a group, so if you can manage to do it on your own, bravo!

If anyone has an extra Olivette set, I would like to trade my Dolch or Granite set for it. Not sure why I didn't order one, consider it's my favorite of the 3...

Just checked the spreadsheet and my line is saying SHIPPED ! This is my first groupbuy experience, can't wait to receive my sets. Anyone know how long it usually takes for a package to arrive from Harry to USA ?

That's exactly why I am always concerned with the sustainability of GBs and the level of strain it puts on the organizer. I actually advised Harry to include a modest fee, but that really is nothing compared with the amount of work he has to put in. But if we want Harry to keep doing buys for Tai Hao keycaps we can't let him burn out.

Group Buys are not easy to manage. That's why I have such high respect for their organizers. All the same, I think the reward for an organizer is a deeply personal one - the experience of organizing. It's a valuable skill you can put on your resume.

I don't mind sending Harry few more bucks via paypal for all his hard work, expecting that the rest will do the same though

Group Buys are not easy to manage. That's why I have such high respect for their organizers.

Majority here would agree BUT you'll get that particular type of ARSEHOLE who thinks that the keys be delivered FREE to their doorstep and when he finds out he has to pay for shipping as well, goes berserk and starts ripping shreds off the Group Buy organizer.  It has happened in the past so I suspect that will never change for the future as well.  You can't have all people being generous and nice because you shall get that odd nasty piece of sh1t, masquerading as a so-called "geekhacker", striving to bring down the Group Buy for whatever lame reason.

That is why I suspect no Group Buy organizer wants to ask for extra money, just to avoid that special tight-arse scumbag, looking to get something for free.  You've got them here and there's nothing that can be done about it.

If anyone running a Group Buy dares ask for a bit of extra money to make things easier in processing the packaging and sorting you'll get those that will whinge and complain.  I remembered in the past a few tried asking for some small amount of money but they got flamed in their sections by those rotten bags of sh1t  8) .  Hence being a Group Buy organizer is truly a thankless task because no one will ever understand the shear amount of work in sorting, packaging and then moving all those boxes down to your local Post Office for shipment.

I for one will be glad to hand over more money during the order process to help out the Group Buy Organizer.  So should everyone else, it's the decency that's required here and has to be supplied if everyone wants Group Buys to continue here on Geekhack.

It can be done though without much backlash as you build up a reputation. Ivan has a $3? group buy fee for his group buys - people trust him, and he is one of the few people who does group buys with GMK, so he's got that going with him.

holy boxes batman

On top of that, a quick count suggests that there are only about 60 boxes in the photo. There are 200 orders. Harry's right in saying that the first batch being shipped is about a third of everything. So don't get your hope up too quick... you might not be part of this third!
